What does it do?
The ATS1340 is designed as a universal door junction box.
The module has an incoming and outgoing data bus / power connection
to achieve a proper stub connection for an Advisor MASTER bus reader.
Onboard relays are provided to connect a door lock and auxiliary outputs
(i.e. buzzer). For high-energy locks an external 12 V or 24 V power supply
must be connected.
Two onboard dual loop resistor inputs configurations are prepared to
connect a magnetic switch on the door and the switch in the door lock if
necessary. These connections can be easily hardwired to the nearest
DGP or panel zones.
The Advisor MASTER bus reader can be fully wired to the door junction
box and a request to the exit button easily can be connected as well. For
more details of the door application please see figure .
WARNING:
1. Disconnect the mains power before opening the cabinet!
Disconnect AC mains plug from AC mains wall
socket, or
disconnect the mains with the dedicated circuit
breaker.
2. Disconnect the battery (when applicable).

Do you have a question about the GE ATS1340 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The ATS1340 is a universal door junction box designed to integrate access control and alarm functionalities for doors. It provides a robust solution for connecting various door-related components to an Advisor MASTER bus reader or a panel/DGP (Data Gathering Panel).

Function Description

The primary function of the ATS1340 is to act as an interface between a door's access control components and the main security system. It features incoming and outgoing data bus/power connections (J1 and J12 respectively) to ensure proper stub connection for an Advisor MASTER bus reader.

Onboard relays (RL1 and RL3) are provided for connecting a door lock and auxiliary outputs, such as a buzzer. For high-energy door locks, an external 12 V or 24 V power supply must be connected to J2.

The module includes two onboard dual loop resistor input configurations (J3) for connecting magnetic switches on the door and the switch in the door lock. These connections can be easily hardwired to the nearest DGP or panel zones.

The ATS1340 also allows for full wiring of an Advisor MASTER bus reader to its terminal strip J9 and provides connections for a request-to-exit (RTE) button (J6).

Usage Features

Mounting: The ATS1340 PCB can be mounted in any Advisor MASTER cabinet that supports a size B board. It is recommended to mount the door junction box in close proximity to the door it controls. To mount the unit:

  1. Remove the ATS1340 cover.
  2. Hold the base against the mounting surface and mark the mounting holes.
  3. Drill holes and insert screw anchors if required.
  4. Secure the unit with screws.
  5. If back tamper is required, secure a magnet close to the reed switch.

Wiring:

  • Databus Connection (J1, J12): Connect the incoming four BUS cable wires to J1. If other bus devices are present, connect outgoing wires to J12. If the ATS1340 is the last device on the bus, a terminator jumper J15 can be installed.
  • Smart Card Reader (J9): Connect the Advisor MASTER reader to J9. Note that connections 1 (R/B LED) and 2 (BUZ) on J9 are not functional.
  • Door Lock & Exit Button (J6): Connect the door lock and optional RTE button to J6. An external 12/24V DC power supply connected to J2 is required for the door lock.
  • Door Switches (J4): Connect the magnetic switch on the door and the optional switch in the door lock to J4.
  • Zone Inputs & External Tamper (J3): Connect Advisor Master (or DGP) inputs to J3 terminals. External tamper (e.g., from ATS1643) connects to J3-5 and J3-6. Jumper settings J13 and J14 configure 1 or 2 zone connections.
  • Auxiliary Output (J8): Provides auxiliary relay (RL3) and open collector (OC) outputs. The power supply for J8-4 depends on J16 settings.

Jumper Configurations:

  • J13 & J14 (Zone Configuration): Configure for 1-zone or 2-zone operation.
  • J16 (Internal/External Power Supply): Determines if J8-4 is connected to the bus 12V or an external 12/24V DC power supply.
  • J17 (RL1 N/O or N/C Output): Configures the door lock relay output as normally open or normally closed.
  • J18 (RL3 N/O or N/C Output): Configures the auxiliary relay output as normally open or normally closed.

Maintenance Features

Power Disconnection: Before opening the cabinet or working on the device, it is crucial to disconnect the mains power. This can be done by unplugging the AC mains plug from the wall socket or by disconnecting the mains with a dedicated circuit breaker. If applicable, disconnect the battery as well.

Fuse Protection: Fuse FH1 protects the bus +12V if this power supply is used for external connections (J9-6 / J8-4). FH2 protects the connection to the buzzer (630 mA).

LED Status Indicators:

  • RL1 (LED D4): Indicates the status of the door lock relay (J9-4).
  • RL3 (LED D5): Indicates the status of the auxiliary output (J8-4). These LEDs allow for quick visual monitoring of the relay states.

Wiring Recommendations: Use CAT 5 cable as described in the manuals for connected devices. The bus cable must be grounded.

WEEE Compliance: The device is marked with the WEEE symbol, indicating that it should not be disposed of in European public disposal systems. European users are required to return end-of-life equipment for proper disposal. Further information is available on www.recyclethis.info.
