Overview

This document is a user manual for a GE Appliances Washer/Dryer combo unit, covering models GUD37ESMN, GUD37, GUD27ESMN, GUD27GESN, GUD27, and GUD24. It provides comprehensive information in English, French, and Spanish, outlining safety precautions, operating instructions, care and cleaning procedures, troubleshooting tips, and warranty details.

Function Description:

The GE Appliances Washer/Dryer is a combined laundry appliance designed for washing and drying clothes. The washer component offers various cycles and settings for different fabric types and soil levels, while the dryer component provides multiple drying cycles and temperature options. The unit is designed for simultaneous operation of both the washer and dryer.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Washer Models: GUD37ESMN, GUD27ESMN, GUD27GESN (with Infusor), GUD37, GUD27 (with Agitator), GUD24 (with Agitator).
  • Water Temperature: All rinse cycles use cold water. Wash temperatures include Hot, Warm, Colors, Cool, Cold, and Tap Cold. Tap Cold uses incoming tap water for energy savings.
  • Load Size (Washer): Precise Fill (automatic water level) or manual selection from Small to Super.
  • Dryer Models: The manual covers models with and without an "E-Dry" option, which reduces total energy consumption on automatic cycles by adjusting heat settings.
  • Ducting: Requires 4-inch rigid metal ducting for home exhaust and UL-listed dryer transition duct. Plastic vents are prohibited. Exhaust must be vented outdoors.
  • Connectivity: WiFi Connect compatible with an optional GE Appliances ConnectPlus module (PBX10W00Y0) for remote monitoring and notifications (US only).
  • Warranty: Limited one-year warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship, including parts and labor.

Usage Features:

  • Washer Operation:
    • Getting Started: Steps include adding fabric softener (optional), bleach (optional), loosely adding items (avoid overloading), and adding detergent.
    • Cycle Selection: A "WASHER CYCLES" knob is used to "wake up" the washer and select desired wash cycles such as Colors, Normal, Drain & Spin, Speed Wash, Delicates, Casuals, Whites, and Bulky Items.
    • Temperature Selection: A "Temperature" knob allows selection of wash water temperature.
    • Deep Rinse: An option to set when adding fabric softener.
    • Status Lights: Indicate the current stage of the wash cycle (On, Wash, Rinse, Spin, Lid Locked). Blinking lights indicate a paused operation.
    • Start/Pause Button: Initiates or pauses the cycle. The lid must be closed to resume.
    • Lid Lock: Prevents opening during the spin cycle and releases within 5 seconds after the basket stops. A 3-minute delay may occur after a power outage.
    • Automatic Drain Sequence: Drains if the lid is open for more than 15 minutes with water present, or if paused with the lid closed for more than 24 hours with water present.
    • Options (on some models): Pre-Soak 15 mins., 2nd Rinse, Pre-Soak + 2nd Rinse.
    • Detergent Use: Recommends High Efficiency (HE) detergents for optimal performance with low water wash and rinse systems. Detergent packets should be placed at the bottom of the basket before clothes.
  • Dryer Operation:
    • Getting Started: Steps include loosely adding items, closing the door, selecting a dry cycle, and pressing the Start button.
    • Cycle Selection: "DRYER CYCLES" knob for cycles like Cottons, Easy Care, Delicates, Timed Dry, 30 Min. (Damp Dry), Dewrinkle (20 Min.), and Quick Fluff (10 Min.).
    • Fabric Care/Temperature: Options include Cottons (High Heat), Easy Care (Med Heat), Delicates (Low Heat), and Quick Fluff (No Heat).
    • Automatic Cycles: Determine fabric dryness and provide sensored drying. The timer rotates to Off once clothes are dry. "Less Dry" for slightly damp clothes, "More Dry" for drier clothes.
    • E-Dry Option (on some models): Reduces energy consumption on automatic cycles by adjusting heat settings, primarily for Cottons cycle. Cycle time may change when E-Dry is selected.
    • Start Button: Initiates the drying cycle. Opening the door stops the dryer; closing and pressing Start resumes it.

Maintenance Features:

  • Washer Exterior: Wipe spills with a damp cloth.
  • Washer Interior: Leave lid open after washing to evaporate moisture. Clean basket with a soft cloth dampened with liquid detergent, then rinse.
  • Fabric Softener Dispenser (Washer): Remove from agitator, separate cup from cover, soak in a solution of warm water, heavy-duty liquid detergent, and bleach. Clean buildup with a soft cloth. Rinse and reassemble.
  • Liquid Bleach Funnel (Washer): Pour measured bleach directly into the funnel before starting the washer. Do not mix with other chemicals.
  • Water Supply Hoses (Washer): Replace every 5 years.
  • Moving and Storage (Washer): Ask a service technician to remove water from the drain pump and hoses. Do not store where exposed to weather. Turn off water faucets and drain hoses for long vacations or freezing temperatures.
  • Lint Filter (Dryer): Clean before and after each load. Wash with warm, soapy water to remove waxy buildup. Do not operate without the lint filter.
  • Dryer Interior and Duct: Cleaned periodically (once a year) by qualified service personnel.
  • Exhaust Duct: Inspect and clean at least once a year to prevent clogging. Disconnect from dryer, vacuum, and reconnect.
  • Exhaust Hood: Check that inner flaps move freely and ensure no wildlife is nesting.
