  A burning or oily odor from the vent of your GE Ranges is normal in a new oven and will disappear over time. To speed up the process, set a self-clean cycle for a minimum of 3 hours.

  If the oven shelves in your GE Ranges are difficult to slide, and they are nickel or gray porcelain-coated shelves, it may be because they were improperly cleaned. Apply a small amount of vegetable oil to a paper towel and wipe the edges of the oven shelves. Do not use lubricant sprays.
