What to do if my GE Ventilation Hood fan is making noise and not circulating air well?
    • D
      danielblackSep 23, 2025
If the GE Ventilation Hood fan is making loud or abnormal airflow noises, or if it seems to circulate air slower than usual, several factors could be at play. Start by checking for any obstructions blocking the vent. Ensure that the damper blade on the wall or roof cap swings freely and is in its original position. A dirty metal grease filter or charcoal filter (if present) can also cause these issues, so clean the metal grease filter and replace the charcoal filter. Finally, ensure sufficient makeup (replacement) air is available, as required by local building codes for exhausting appliances to operate correctly.

Why is my GE Ventilation Hood making a loud noise?

      dannyhatfieldAug 23, 2025
If your GE Ventilation Hood is making loud or abnormal airflow noise, it might be due to the wrong duct size used during installation. Using a smaller duct pipe can reduce venting efficiency. Minimize the duct run length and the number of transitions and elbows. Note that GE Appliances service technicians cannot correct this issue if the hood was installed improperly.

If your GE Ventilation Hood fan is constantly turning off and on, it's likely that the motor is overheating. This can be harmful, so you should address it promptly.
