This document describes the GEIGER GJ56.. E14-1002 Venetian blind motor with electronic end stop, designed for Venetian blinds, exterior blinds, and terrace shading. It provides comprehensive information on its function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.
Function Description
The GEIGER GJ56.. E14-1002 is a motor designed for the automated operation of Venetian blinds, exterior blinds, and terrace shading systems. It features an electronic end stop, which allows for precise control of the upper and lower limits of the blind's movement. This electronic end stop eliminates the need for mechanical adjustments, simplifying installation and programming. The motor is capable of both UP and DOWN movements, and its programming mode allows users to set the desired end positions. The motor is designed to be integrated into various shading systems, providing automated control for enhanced comfort and convenience. It can be controlled via a locking switch (no simultaneous UP and DOWN commands) or through service clamps connected to an electrical specialist. The motor also supports connection to a three-phase network, allowing multiple motors to be controlled simultaneously.

Usage Features
The GEIGER GJ56.. E14-1002 motor offers several features that enhance its usability and control:
- Electronic End Stop: The motor is equipped with an electronic end stop, which allows for precise setting of the upper and lower end positions. This simplifies installation and eliminates the need for mechanical adjustments.
- Programming Mode: The motor can be set into a programming mode by pressing the programming key for about 3 seconds. This mode allows users to activate the programming, adjust end stops, and reset to factory settings.
- Adjusting End Stops: To adjust the end stops, the motor must be in programming mode. The motor can be run in the desired direction (UP or DOWN), and the end stop is programmed by pressing the programming key again. The motor will stop, and the end stop will be saved.
- Canceling Programming Mode: The programming mode can be canceled by pressing the UP/DOWN key simultaneously for about 3 seconds, followed by 2 x click-clack.
- Resetting to Factory Settings: To reset the motor to factory settings, press the programming key or simultaneously the UP/DOWN key for about 20 seconds until the motor jerks 1 x after 3 seconds and 4 x after 20 seconds. This will reset the motor to its original configuration.
- Obstacle Detection and Anti-Freeze Protection: The motor includes features to detect obstacles and provide anti-freeze protection. If an obstacle is detected (e.g., obstacle or blind frozen to the window sill), the direction in which the obstacle was detected is blocked. A short command in the opposite direction releases the driving direction.
- Parallel Connection: Motors with electronic limit stops can be connected in parallel, provided the maximum load of the switching unit is not exceeded.
- Connection to External Controls: The motor can be connected to various external controls, including plug connectors and Hirschmann Company products.
Maintenance Features
The GEIGER GJ56.. E14-1002 motor is designed for low maintenance, but certain aspects should be considered:
- General Maintenance: The drive is maintenance-free.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues:
- Motor does not run: Check if the motor is plugged in, check the plug connection, and check the connecting cable for possible damage. Also, check the mains voltage and allow a qualified electrician to assess the cause of the voltage breakdown.
- Instead of in the downwards direction, motor runs upwards: The control leads are interchanged. Exchange black/brown control leads.
- Motor only runs in one direction: Check if the motor is in the opposite direction. Readjust the end positions if necessary.
- After running several times, the motor breaks down and no longer responds: The motor became too hot and has switched off. Try again after a cooling time of about 15 minutes.
- Installation: Installation should be performed by a specialist electrician. The device must be mounted as described in the installation instructions, and fixations shall not be made with adhesives. Damaged connecting cables must be replaced by GEIGER connecting cables of the same type.
- Disposal: The product is subject to recycling of packaging materials and proper disposal of electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with EU regulations. It should not be disposed of with household waste.
Safety Instructions:
- Always disconnect the device from the mains power supply before maintenance and replacement of parts.
- Do not allow children to play with stationary controls. Keep remote controls away from children.
- The installation must be checked regularly for defective balance, signs of wear or damaged cables and springs.
- Do not operate the device if operations such as, for example, window cleaning are to be carried out in the vicinity.
- Disconnect the automatic controlled device from the mains power supply if operations such as, for example, window cleaning are being carried out in the vicinity.
- During operation, observe the danger zone.
- Do not use the installation if people or objects are in the danger zone.
- Urgently shut down damaged installations until repair.
- Unconditionally shut down the unit during maintenance and cleaning operations.
- Pinching and shearing points are to be avoided and must be secured.
- This appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above and persons whose physical, sensorial or mental capacities are impaired, or who have no experience or knowledge if they have been supervised or been given instructions on the use of the appliance and if they understand the possible resulting dangers. Children are not permitted to play with the device. Cleaning and maintenance should not be carried out by children.
- If the motor is disconnected via a plug connection, the operator must be able to control – from the place to which it has access – that the plug is removed.
- If this is not possible – due to design or installation – the disconnection from the power supply must be ensured via locking in the disconnected position (e.g. isolator).
- The motor tube can get very hot during prolonged use.
- When working on the unit, do not touch the tube before it has cooled down.
