Overview

The Genie GCB01HD is a passive HD Ground Loop Isolator designed for AHD, HDCVI, HDTVI, and Analogue Video signals transmitted over coaxial cable. Its primary function is to combat interference issues caused by different ground potentials during signal transmission, thereby improving video anti-interference capability and effectively eliminating visual disturbances such as tearing and scrolling pictures.

Function Description:

This device acts as a passive isolator, meaning it does not require external power to operate. It is specifically engineered to eliminate video distortion that arises from ground loops within a circuit. By isolating the ground, it resolves common video problems like image tearing, cross-talk, and rolling. The GCB01HD features a built-in 800V insulated voltage, providing robust protection against electrical surges. It offers full compatibility with a wide range of video signals including HDCVI, HDTVI, AHD, and traditional analogue video signals. Furthermore, it boasts excellent anti-interference capabilities, superior lighting-protection, and strong ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and EFT (Electrical Fast Transient) capabilities, ensuring reliable performance in various environments.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Insertion Loss: 0.5dB, indicating minimal signal degradation.
  • Frequency Response: 5Hz-70MHz, covering a broad spectrum of video frequencies.
  • Input Impedance: 75Ω, matching standard coaxial cable impedance.
  • Output Impedance: 75Ω, ensuring proper signal termination.
  • Isolation Voltage: 800V (Minimum), highlighting its robust electrical isolation.
  • Isolation Resistance: 100M Ω, indicating high resistance to current flow across the isolation barrier.
  • Surge Protection: Level 3 Per IEC61000-4-5, demonstrating compliance with international standards for surge immunity.
  • ESD Protection: Contact Discharge: 6KV, Air Discharge: 8KV, Per IEC61000-4-2, indicating strong protection against electrostatic discharges.
  • Operation Temperature: -10°C ~ 55°C, suitable for a wide range of operating conditions.
  • Storage Temperature: -40°C ~ 85°C, allowing for storage in extreme temperatures.
  • Humidity: 0~95% (Non-Condensing), indicating tolerance to varying humidity levels without condensation.
  • Dimensions: 41 x 24.5 × 21.6 mm, a compact and space-saving design.
  • Weight: 51g, making it lightweight and easy to handle.

Usage Features:

The GCB01HD is designed for straightforward installation and integration into existing video surveillance systems. It connects via BNC Male to BNC Female connectors, allowing for easy inline installation between a CCTV camera and an NVR (Network Video Recorder) or monitor. The device is passive, meaning no external power supply is required, simplifying deployment. Its compatibility with various HD and analogue video formats makes it a versatile solution for different camera systems. The compact size and lightweight nature of the isolator ensure it can be easily fitted into tight spaces. For optimal performance and to achieve the longest transmission distance, it is recommended to use RG59 or above coaxial cable, or Cat5e/6 cable.

Maintenance Features:

The GCB01HD is designed for minimal maintenance due to its passive nature and robust construction. There are no user-serviceable parts or software updates required. The primary maintenance consideration involves ensuring proper installation and reliable connections. Users should regularly check that all coaxial cable connections are secure and that the device itself is not physically damaged. In the event of a problem, troubleshooting involves verifying the installation steps, checking the transmission distance against the signal source and cable quality, and if necessary, replacing the device with a known good unit to determine if the isolator is at fault. The durable design, with its wide operating and storage temperature ranges, contributes to its long-term reliability and reduces the need for frequent maintenance.
