Genie RAIL EXTENSION KIT User Manual

Looking down at the underside of the rail assembly (belt visible), position yourself so that
the door end (pulley assembly) is on your left. Powerhead (drive sprocket) will be on your
right.
1. Slide pulley assembly out of the rail end. Fig. 1
2. Carefully remove the pulley pin. Fig. 2
3. Remove the pulley guard screws and slide the pulley guard out of the rail end. Fig. 3
4. Disconnect the carriage from the bullet by pulling the red cord. Slide the carriage out
of the rail end. Notice the orientation of the carriage as you remove it. Fig. 4
5. Lift the bullet out of the rail. Fig.5
6. Remove the four screws in the bullet, separate the bullet halves and remove the belt.

7. Insert the replacement extended belt into the channel and reassemble the bullet using
the four screws. Fig. 6, ensure belt is not twisted or bound.
8. Place the bullet and belt into the rail. Fig. 5
Preparation: You will need a Phillips Head Screwdriver, 7/16” & 1/4” wrench or socket.
Begin by completing steps 1A through 1F on the Assembly/Installation Poster.
Do not begin Step 1G. Proceed with the instructions below to attach the Rail Extension.

Slide Pulley Assembly Out of Rail End

Slide pulley assembly out of the rail end as shown in Fig. 1.

Remove Pulley Pin

Carefully remove the pulley pin as shown in Fig. 2.

Remove Pulley Guard and Screws

Remove pulley guard screws and slide pulley guard out of rail end per Fig. 3.

Disconnect Carriage from Bullet

Disconnect carriage from bullet by pulling red cord and slide out per Fig. 4.

Lift Bullet Out of Rail

Lift the bullet out of the rail as shown in Fig. 5.

Remove Bullet Screws and Belt

Remove four screws in bullet, separate halves, and remove belt per Fig. 6.

Insert Belt and Reassemble Bullet

Insert replacement belt, reassemble bullet using screws; ensure belt is not twisted.

Place Bullet and Belt into Rail

Place the bullet and belt into the rail as shown in Fig. 5.

Slide Carriage Back into Rail

Slide carriage back into rail at door end, ensure door arrow points toward door per Fig. 7.

Slide Coupler and Extension Onto Pulley End

Slide rail coupler and 12 inch extension onto pulley end of rail per Fig. 8.

Slide Pulley Guard into Rail and Secure

Slide pulley guard into rail, position belt, insert screws, and tighten per Fig. 9.

Place Belt into Pulley and Align Pin

Place belt into pulley, align pulley with pin hole, insert pin from underneath per Fig. 10.

Slide Pulley Assembly into Rail and Check

Slide pulley assembly into rail, hook onto rail end, check alignment and pin per Fig. 10-11.

Adjust Drive Sprocket Assembly

Slide drive sprocket assembly to adjust position until tabs rest in rail end slots per Fig. 12.

Tension Belt on Pulley Assembly

Tension belt by tightening adjustment nut on pulley assembly until belt is 1/8" off rail per Fig. 11.

Tie Release Cord

Tie the short red release cord to the existing release cord on the carriage.
