WHAT IS INCLUDED IN AXZL KIT:
MOUNTING THE LOCK AND RECEIVER:
NOTE: If your gate is set up in the push-to-open mode, the lock will need to be installed on the outside of the gate.
STEP 1: MAKE SURE THE OPERATOR CONTROL BOX POWER SWITCH IS IN THE OFF POSITION
You must disconnect the operator only after the operator power switch is OFF and the gate is NOT moving.
NOTE: The gate operator is battery powered and unplugging the AC transformer does not turn the power to the operator o.
STEP 2: DISCONNECT FRONT END OF THE GATE OPERATOR ARM FROM GATE BRACKET
A. Remove the hairpin clip and clevis pin from the FRONT mount of the gate operator.
B. Swing the operator arm out of the way of the gate.
STEP 3: MAKE SURE GATE IS IN THE CLOSED POSITION
To ensure the gate remains in the closed position, you should wire tie or clamp the gate to the post for a single gate and for
a dual gate secure the second gate.
Lock should be mounted on the gate cross member or other solid part of the gate surface and the receiver should be
mounted on the adjacent post perfectly level with the lock. See illustrations next page.

Overview

The AXZL Zombielock® Automatic Gate Lock is a security accessory designed to enhance the security of automatic gate systems. It works in conjunction with a gate operator to provide a robust locking mechanism for both single and dual gates, including tube gates and decorative gates.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Zombielock is to automatically secure a gate in the closed position, preventing unauthorized access or forced entry. When the gate operator closes the gate, the lock engages with a receiver mounted on an adjacent post, firmly holding the gate in place. Upon receiving an open command, the lock disengages, allowing the gate to open. The system is designed to automatically detect the lock once the control box power is turned on, and it will pull (unlock) the lock for a few seconds at the closed position before opening. This ensures that the lock is fully disengaged before the gate begins to move, preventing damage to both the gate and the lock. Similarly, the lock will pull (unlock) near the closed limit position when the gate is closing to ensure a smooth and "soft" closing operation.

Important Technical Specifications:

The kit includes the receiver and pin, nuts and bolts for mounting, and keys for manual override. An optional Tube Gate Accessory Kit (AXTB) is available for tube gate installations, which includes specialized tube brackets and locknuts. For tube gate installations using the AXTB kit, it's important to discard the washers typically included with the nuts and bolts and use the supplied locknuts instead. The locknuts are screwed down onto the tube bracket and then onto the Zombielock. The system is designed to be connected to the gate operator's control box via specific wiring: a red wire for positive (+), a black wire for negative (-), and a blue wire for the 'S' terminal. The gate operator is battery-powered, and unplugging the AC transformer does not turn off the power to the operator; therefore, the operator's power switch must be in the OFF position before installation. The gate lock is designed to be mounted on the gate cross member or another solid part of the gate surface, while the receiver is mounted on the adjacent post, ensuring they are perfectly level with each other for proper alignment and function.

Usage Features:

  • Automatic Operation: The lock integrates seamlessly with the gate operator, engaging and disengaging automatically as the gate opens and closes.
  • Manual Override: Keys are provided to manually unlock the gate, which is useful during power outages or for maintenance.
  • Versatile Mounting Options: The lock can be mounted on various gate types, including single and dual tube gates, as well as single and dual decorative gates. Specific mounting instructions and illustrations are provided for each type.
  • Push-to-Open Compatibility: For gates set up in push-to-open mode, the lock must be installed on the outside of the gate.
  • Self-Detection: The controller automatically detects the lock when the power switch is turned on, simplifying the setup process.
  • Damage Prevention: The system is designed to ensure the lock is fully disengaged before the gate moves, preventing potential damage to the gate or the lock.
  • Smooth Operation: The lock disengages slightly before the gate reaches its fully closed position to ensure a smooth and "soft" closing.

Maintenance Features:

  • Secure Mounting: The lock and receiver must be mounted securely and level with each other to ensure proper operation and longevity. This involves drilling holes and attaching components with included nuts and bolts.
  • Wire Connection: Proper connection of the lock wires to the control board terminals (red to positive, black to negative, blue to 'S') is crucial for the lock's functionality. Screws must be tightened firmly to prevent wires from coming loose.
  • Alignment Verification: Before permanent mounting, it is essential to verify that the receiver pin lines up perfectly with the slot in the lock. This ensures smooth engagement and disengagement.
  • Gate Closure Adjustment: After installation, it may be necessary to make adjustments to the gate's closure to ensure the gate lock closes firmly in the receiver. This might involve referring to the gate opener manual for closed position adjustments.
  • Pre-Installation Safety: Before any installation or maintenance, the gate operator control box power switch must be in the OFF position, and the gate must not be moving. This is a critical safety measure as the operator is battery-powered.

The AXZL Zombielock® is a robust solution for enhancing gate security, offering automatic operation, versatile installation, and integrated safety features to protect both the gate and the locking mechanism.
