    • R
      Rebecca Delgado MDAug 19, 2025
If you smell gas even when the control knob of your GHP Group Gas Heater is in the OFF position, it could be due to gas leaks or a defective gas control. You should immediately locate and correct any leaks. Alternatively, the gas control may need to be replaced.

Why does the pilot light go out when I release the knob on my GHP Group Gas Heater?
    • A
      Alicia JohnsonAug 21, 2025
If the ODS pilot light on your GHP Group Gas Heater lights but the flame goes out when you release the control knob, it could be due to several reasons. First, ensure you keep the control knob pressed in for about 30 seconds after the pilot lights. It's also possible the safety interlock has been triggered, so wait one minute and try the ignition operation again. Other potential causes include the pilot flame not touching the thermocouple, a damaged thermocouple, a loose thermocouple connection at the gas control valve, or a damaged gas control valve. In the case of a loose thermocouple connection, hand tighten until snug, then tighten 1/4 turn with a wrench. If the pilot flame is not touching the thermocouple, contact a qualified technician.

Why does my GHP Group RA18LPDG Gas Heater smell like gas when it's running?
    • G
      gwilliamsAug 25, 2025
If you notice a gas odor during combustion in your GHP Group Gas Heater, it could be due to foreign matter in the gas or on the burner ports. Try checking the gas passageway and burner for any obstructions. It's also possible that the heater is burning vapors from paint or impurities in the air. In this case, ventilate the room and avoid storing or using odor-causing products near the heater. Another potential cause is gas leaks, so locate and correct any leaks immediately.

Why won't the pilot light on my GHP Group Gas Heater light?
    • L
      lawrencegibsonAug 26, 2025
If the pilot light of your GHP Group Gas Heater does not light when you press in the control knob, turn it counterclockwise to the pilot position, and depress the piezo, there might be a few reasons. Check if the gas supply is turned on and ensure the control knob is indeed in the pilot position and pressed in. There may also be air in the gas lines; purge them and repeat the ignition operation. If the ODS pilot is clogged, it is recommended to call a qualified service technician.

Why does my GHP Group RA18LPDG Gas Heater keep shutting off?
    • N
      nsmithAug 28, 2025
If your GHP Group Gas Heater shuts off on ODS (Oxygen Depletion Sensor), it may be due to insufficient fresh air. Try opening a window to increase ventilation. It could also be due to low gas pressure, in which case you should contact your gas supplier. Another possibility is that the ODS pilot is partially clogged, so try cleaning the pilot.

What to do if burner doesn't light on my GHP Group Gas Heater after pilot is lit?
    • D
      Dr. Chelsey DawsonAug 30, 2025
If the burner on your GHP Group Gas Heater does not light after the ODS pilot is lit, the burner orifice might be clogged, and you should clean it. Alternatively, the gas supply pressure could be very low, and you should contact your gas supplier.

How to fix no spark at pilot light on GHP Group RA18LPDG?
    • S
      Steven SimmonsSep 1, 2025
If there is no spark at the ODS pilot when the ignitor is depressed on your GHP Group Gas Heater, it could be due to several reasons. The ignitor electrode might be positioned incorrectly, so try repositioning it. The electrode could also be broken, in which case you should replace it. Another possibility is that the ignitor cable is pinched or broken; free the cable, and if it's damaged, replace it. Also, make sure the ignitor cable is connected to the ignitor electrode; if not, connect it. Finally, the ignitor itself might be defective, so consider replacing it.

    • D
      Darren AndersonSep 3, 2025

    • S
      Stephen JonesSep 5, 2025
If your GHP Group Gas Heater experiences delayed ignition, it could be due to clogged main burner carry over ports. Try cleaning the main burner ports. Alternatively, the gas supply pressure may be very low, in which case you should contact your gas supplier.

Why is my GHP Group RA18LPDG Gas Heater whistling?
    • L
      loriphillipsSep 7, 2025
If your GHP Group Gas Heater produces a whistling noise when the burner is lit, it could be due to blocked air passageways. Check the minimum installation clearances and air passageways for any debris. It could also be due to air in the gas line. Operate the burner until the air is completely purged.
