How to fix a Giant Factories UG40 when the burner will not ignite?
    • D
      Diane Duncan DDSAug 20, 2025
If the burner of your Giant Factories Water Heater won't ignite, several factors could be the reason. First, ensure that gas is supplied by checking with your gas utility company. There might be dirt in the gas line, in that case, notify the utility and install a drip leg in the gas line. Another potential cause is a blocked air intake terminal; inspect the outside terminal for any debris or frozen components and clear them. A clogged main burner line can also prevent ignition, so clean it and identify/rectify the source of the blockage. Lastly, a defective flame sensor or gas control could be the culprit, requiring replacement with new components. If the gas control is set too low, turn the temperature dial to the desired setting.

Why does the burner flame float and lift off ports in my Giant Factories UG40?
    • T
      Thomas CastroAug 26, 2025
If the burner flame in your Giant Factories Water Heater floats and lifts off the ports, it could be due to high gas pressure; check with your gas utility company. Alternatively, the orifice might be too large, requiring replacement with the correct size. A clogged flue can also cause this issue, so clean it and identify/rectify the source of the blockage. Another potential cause is a blocked air intake terminal; check the outside terminal for debris and remove it. Cold drafts (downdraft) may also affect the flame; locate the source and correct it.

Why is the burner flame yellow and lazy in my Giant Factories UG40?
    • S
      Sara ReillyAug 30, 2025
If the burner flame in your Giant Factories Water Heater is yellow and lazy, it could be due to insufficient secondary air. Check that the air intake terminal is not blocked. A clogged flue can also cause this issue, so clean it and identify/rectify the source of the blockage. Another potential cause is a blocked air intake terminal; check the outside terminal for debris and remove it. Additionally, a clogged main burner line can lead to a yellow and lazy flame, so clean it and identify/rectify the source of the blockage.

Why is my Giant Factories UG40 Water Heater leaking water?
    • P
      Peter FlemingSep 1, 2025
If you notice water leaking from your Giant Factories Water Heater, check for poorly sealed hot or cold water connections, gas control threads, relief valve, or drain valve. Try tightening these threaded connections. Also, investigate the plumbing system and other appliances for any leakage. Condensation might also be the cause.

Why is the burner flame too high in my Giant Factories UG40?
    • S
      Sherri JonesSep 3, 2025
If the burner flame is too high in your Giant Factories Water Heater, it could be due to insufficient secondary air. Ensure that the air intake terminal is not blocked. Another possibility is that the orifice is too large, requiring replacement with the correct one. A defective gas control may also cause this issue, necessitating replacement.

Why does water drip from the relief valve of my Giant Factories UG40?
    • S
      Scott SmithSep 5, 2025
If water drips from the relief valve of your Giant Factories Water Heater, it could be due to heater stacking; try lowering the gas control setting. Excessive water pressure can also cause this, so install a pressure-reducing valve. Thermal expansion in a closed water system might be the reason; in that case, install an expansion tank. Finally, an improperly seated valve could be the issue; check that the relief valve works properly and replace it if needed.

Why does the flame burn at the orifice in my Giant Factories UG40 Water Heater?
    • D
      Daniel LynnSep 7, 2025
If the flame burns at the orifice of your Giant Factories Water Heater, it could be due to low gas pressure. Check with your gas utility company. Alternatively, a defective gas control might be the cause, requiring replacement.

What causes the gas control to fail to shut off in a Giant Factories UG40 Water Heater?
    • J
      Julie CollinsSep 9, 2025
If the gas control fails to shut off in your Giant Factories Water Heater, it is likely due to a defective gas control or improper calibration. In either case, the solution is to replace the gas control.

Why is there condensation in my Giant Factories UG40?
    • A
      amandabonillaSep 12, 2025
Condensation in your Giant Factories Water Heater can occur for several reasons. If the water heater is filled for the first time, allow it to warm up, and the problem should resolve itself. Similarly, heavy draws of hot water with very cold refill water can cause condensation; let the water heater warm up. If the water heater is undersized, install a unit that meets your demand.

    Kristina GentrySep 13, 2025
Why does my Giant Factories UG40 emit combustion odours?
    • M
      Michael LesterSep 13, 2025
Combustion odours from your Giant Factories Water Heater can arise from insufficient secondary air. Check that the air intake terminal is not blocked. A clogged flue can also cause these odours, so clean it and identify/rectify the source of the blockage.
