This document is a user manual for the GREE Dehumidifier, model GGL25AW. It provides comprehensive information on the device's operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Function Description
The GREE GGL25AW is a dehumidifier designed to reduce humidity levels in indoor environments. Beyond its primary dehumidification function, it also incorporates air purification capabilities and can assist in drying clothes. The unit is equipped with a PM2.5 sensor to monitor air quality and an ion generator for air freshening.
Important Technical Specifications
- Model: GGL25AW
- Operating Temperature Range: 2°C to 40°C. When room temperature exceeds 35°C, the unit automatically enters a high-load operation mode, increasing fan speed and potentially running intermittently due to protection devices. Dehumidification volume decreases at low room temperatures and humidity.
- Humidity Setting Range: 30% to 80% (adjustable in 5% increments).
- Continuous Drainage: The unit supports continuous drainage. Users can connect a drainage pipe with an inner diameter of 13-13.5mm (length approximately 1.3-1.5 meters) to the drainage port.
- Filters: Includes an Activated Carbon Filter (inside), HEPA Dust Collection Filter (middle), and Air Filter (outside).
- Filter Replacement: HEPA dust filter and active carbon filter have a reference replacement year of 1 year, though this may be shortened depending on usage.
- Sensors: PM2.5 sensor, Temperature and Humidity detection, Collapse sensor.
- Power Cord: Grounded power cord.
- Safety Features: Collapse protection, Water full display with automatic shutdown and 10-second reminder sound, Child lock.
Usage Features
The dehumidifier features a display and touch panel for easy operation.
Operation Modes:
The unit offers three main operation modes:
- Dry Mode: Reduces humidity to prevent clothes from becoming moldy after drying. Fan speed and humidity cannot be adjusted in this mode.
- Dehu Mode (Dehumidification Mode): The unit operates to achieve a comfortable humidity level. If a specific humidity is set by the user, the compressor stops when that level is reached. The fan speed can be automatically adjusted based on detected humidity or manually set to Auto, High, Med, or Low.
- Purify Mode (Purification Mode): Activates the ionizer to freshen the air. The ionizer is forcibly turned on and cannot be adjusted in this mode. It is recommended to empty the water bucket if using this mode for an extended period.
Control Buttons:
- Standby Button: Starts or stops the dehumidifier. A 3-minute delay may occur when starting dehumidification after power plug insertion or immediate restart.
- Humidity Button: Sets the desired humidity level for dehumidification (30%-80% in 5% increments). Holding the button allows for quick adjustment. Not adjustable in Dry or Purification modes.
- Mode Button: Switches between Purify, Dehu, and Dry modes.
- Light Button: Adjusts the display light state: turn off U-shaped light ring, turn on display light, turn off display light. When all lights are off, the unit is in screen-off state; touching the operation area (except standby button) wakes it up. Also used for Child Lock (hold for 3s).
- Swing Button: Controls the air deflector swing. Holding for 3s controls the sound (Mute).
- Timer Button: Sets a shutdown timer (1-24 hours) when the unit is on, or a power-on timer when in standby. Holding the button allows for quick adjustment. Setting to 0 or pressing standby cancels the timer.
- Fan Speed Button: Adjusts fan speed (Auto, High, Med, Low). Fan speed is forced to High in Dry mode and automatically adjusted based on detected humidity in Dehu mode or air quality in Purification mode.
- WiFi Button: Turns WiFi function on/off. When on, the unit can be controlled via WiFi. Holding for 5s resets the WiFi function.
- Ion Button: Turns the ion function on/off, activating the ion generator for fresher air. Forcibly on in Purification mode.
Display Indicators:
- Humidity Display: Shows current ambient humidity.
- PM2.5 Detection: Icon is always on. Light color indicates air quality: Green (good), Yellow (normal), Red (poor). Note: PM2.5 sensor is inaccurate for a few minutes after startup due to preheating.
- Water Full Icon ("Full"): Flashes and turns red when the water bucket is full, or if the bucket is removed/not installed correctly (after 3 minutes during operation, immediately in standby). The unit stops running and emits a 10-second sound reminder (if sound is on).
- Filter Icon ("Filter"): Indicates the filter needs cleaning.
Other Features:
- Memory Function: The dehumidifier retains settings.
- Collapse Protection: If the unit collapses or is inclined too much, all lights flash, and buttons become inoperable. To reset, unplug, raise the unit, wipe any overflowing water, allow to dry for at least half a day, then reinsert the power plug.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the dehumidifier's service life and performance.
General Checks (Every 6-12 months):
- Check if the power plug is hot.
- Check if the power cord is damaged.
- Check if the filter is damaged.
Cleaning Procedures:
- Safety Precautions: Always turn off and unplug the dehumidifier before cleaning to avoid electric shock. Do not wash the unit with water or use volatile liquids (thinner, gasoline) as they can damage the appearance and cause water leakage.
- PM2.5 Sensor Cleaning (Every 2 months, more frequently in harsh environments):
- Open the sensor cover by placing a finger in the groove and pulling outward.
- Clean the sensor lens with a slightly damp cotton swab, then dry with a clean cotton swab to remove residual water. Avoid applying excessive force.
- Reinstall the sensor cover.
- Humidity Sensor Cleaning (Monthly): Clean with a vacuum cleaner brush. Ensure the power plug is disconnected.
- Water Bucket Cleaning:
- Gently pull out the water bucket by grasping the clasps on both sides.
- Open the drainage port on the water bucket cover and tilt the unit to drain water.
- Wash the water bucket with cool or warm water. Do not use detergent, chemically-treated cloths, gasoline, benzene, thinner, or other solvents to prevent scratches or damage.
- Ensure the float is properly placed and can move smoothly after cleaning.
- Reinstall the water bucket cover by pressing it flat and ensuring all four buckles are locked.
- Gently push the water bucket back into its original position.
- Important: Do not move the water bucket when the unit is running or just shut down to avoid water spillage. Do not remove the float (magnet) assembly as it monitors water level; damage can cause leakage or electric shock.
- Air Filter Removal and Cleaning:
- Buckle the upper buckle of the filter and pull it out diagonally.
- If the air filter is dirty, wash it with warm water and neutral detergent, then dry thoroughly before reinstalling. Do not clean with water above 40°C or expose to sunlight.
- HEPA Dust Filter Removal and Cleaning:
- Use the handle above the filter to remove it.
- Clean the surface with a brush or vacuum cleaner. Do not wash with water.
- Reinstall the HEPA filter and then the air filter.
- Filter Reset: After cleaning the filter, hold the Mode button and Light button for 3 seconds simultaneously to turn off the "Filter" icon.
- Active Carbon Filter: Does not require special cleaning. Replace directly if deodorizing effect is poor or damaged. Dispose of as non-combustible garbage.
- Appearance Cleaning:
- Wipe with a soft towel. For oil stains, use a neutral detergent, then wipe with clean water.
- Wipe electrical parts (operating area) with a dry cloth.
- Do not use stain removing oil, volatile oil, alcohol, petroleum, soap powder, bright powder, strong alkali cleaner, hot water, acid, or brushes to avoid damage. Water entering the unit can damage insulation and cause rust.
Storage (When not in use for a long time):
- Pull out the power plug.
- Pour out remaining water from the water bucket and wipe it dry with a cloth.
- Clean the air filter.
- Pack the unit in its carton box to prevent dust accumulation.
- Store the unit upright in a cool and dry place.
