The GC1149A Dry Contact Module is a device designed to interface Dry Contact Systems (such as Crestron, Switch Input, or RV-C) with Girard Systems' G-link Controllers. Its primary function is to receive Retract, Stop, and Extend commands from a Dry Contact System and then transmit these commands as an RF signal to any programmed G-link Controller or Remote Motor. This allows users to operate their Girard awnings using their smart systems.

Technical Specifications:

Input Voltage: The module operates on either 12V or 24V DC.
Transmitting Frequency: It communicates via RF signals at a frequency of 433MHz.
Transmitting Power: The module has a transmitting power of 10 milliwatts.
Transmitting Distance: It offers a transmitting distance of up to 500 feet in open areas and approximately 120 feet when obstructed by two walls.

Usage Features (Modes of Operation):

The GC1149A offers three distinct modes of operation, which determine how the awning responds to commands:

Continuous Mode (Default): In this mode, a single press of a command button (Retract or Extend) will cause the awning to fully extend or retract. The operation will continue until it is interrupted by pressing the STOP button.
- Selection: To select this mode, connect the module to a 12V power supply. Press and hold the SET button. A blue/purple LED next to the SET button will flash 5 times slowly and then ONCE quickly, indicating that the DEFAULT mode is active.
Step Mode (Selected): This mode requires the command button to be held down for the awning to extend or retract. The motor will stop as soon as the command button is released. This provides precise control over the awning's movement.
- Selection: To select this mode, connect the module to a 12V power supply. Press and hold the SET button for approximately 12 seconds. The LED will flash TWICE quickly, confirming the selection of Step Mode.
Secondary Continuous Mode (Selected): Similar to the default continuous mode, a single press of a command button will initiate full extension or retraction of the awning. However, in this mode, the operation can be interrupted by pressing either the same command button again or the STOP button.
- Selection: To select this mode, connect the module to a 12V power supply. Press and hold the SET button for approximately 20 seconds. The LED will flash 3 TIMES quickly, indicating the selection of Secondary Continuous Mode.

Programming Steps:

Before initiating any programming procedure, ensure that the Receiver is powered OFF for at least 10 seconds. During the programming function, the interval between each required step must be less than 10 seconds.

Programming the GC1149A to a Receiver (GC136, GC154, or GC274A):

*   Connect the GC1149A Dry Contact Control Module to 12 Volts DC.
*   Ensure the Receiver is powered ON.
*   Press the program button on the Receiver; its Green LED will start blinking.
*   Press STOP on the Receiver; the Green LED will stop blinking and remain illuminated.
*   Press the Retract button on the dry contact (or use a small jumper from Common to Retract). This action links the GC1149A to the motor controller, and the Green LED on the Receiver will turn off.
*   A blue/purple light will flash on the GC1149A every time it transmits.
*   Test the awning's operation using the system or by using small jumpers from the common to retract terminal. If the awning does not move, repeat steps "a" through "e".

Programming the GC1149A to the GC732G (DC Motor Control):

*   Connect the GC1149A Dry Contact Control Module to 12 Volts DC.
*   Supply power to the GC732G; the unit will start beeping for at least 5 seconds.
*   Press the Programming button on the GC732G for at least 3 seconds (a Red LED will turn ON after 3 seconds).
*   Press the Retract button on the dry contact (or use a small jumper from Common to Retract terminal). This links the GC1149A to the motor controller, and the Green LED will turn off.
*   Test the awning's operation using the system or by using small jumpers from the common to retract terminal. If the awning does not move, repeat steps "a" through "e".

Programming the GC1149A to a Remote Motor:

*   Connect the GC1149A Dry Contact Control Module to 12 Volts DC.
*   Supply power to the Remote Motor; a soft beep will be emitted by the RF receiver in the unit.
*   Press the P2 button twice (a beep will be emitted by the RF receiver with each press).
*   Press the Retract button on the dry contact (or use a small jumper from Common to Retract). This links the GC1149A to the motor.
*   Test the awning's operation using the system or by using small jumpers from the common to retract terminal. If the awning does not move, repeat steps "a" through "e".
*   **Note:** If the motor turns in the opposite direction, repeat steps "a" through "e" but use the Extend button instead of Retract.

Maintenance Features:

The manual emphasizes several important considerations for the safe and proper operation of Girard Systems awnings, which indirectly relate to the maintenance of the system and prevention of damage:

Environmental Conditions: Awnings can be operated in light wind and rain. However, they must be closed during periods of heavy rain or high wind. Awnings should never be left open and unattended. Damage caused by wind and rain is not covered by warranty.
Vehicle Movement: All awnings must be closed before moving the vehicle for any reason. A visual check to ensure every awning is fully closed is required as an extra safety precaution. Damage caused by failure to comply with these instructions is not covered by warranty.
Obstruction Avoidance: Before deploying the awning, ensure the area is free of obstructions such as trees, walls, pillars, posts, or other vehicles. Damage caused by collisions with any of these obstructions is not covered by warranty.
Electrical System Check: Before using the awning, ensure all electrical circuits are operating correctly. RVs can generate AC power from three sources: Shore Power (if connected), Generator Power (if running), and Inverter Power (batteries must be charged). The vehicle's electrical system transfer switch will select the power source for the awning.
