Overview

The GLF-1 is a high-end mini-scale F1 chassis designed for experienced racers, recommended for players aged 14 and above. It is a competitive chassis right out of the box, incorporating innovative features previously unseen in mini RC cars of this scale.

Function Description

The GLF-1 is a remote-controlled F1 chassis designed for mini-scale racing. It provides a platform for competitive racing with a focus on adjustability and high-performance components. The chassis is powered by Li-Po batteries and features a brushless motor ESC, ensuring powerful and efficient operation. Its design aims for an ultra-low center of gravity (CG) to enhance stability and handling during races.

Important Technical Specifications

Chassis Features:

  • Adjustable Tri-damper rear suspension: Allows for fine-tuning of the rear suspension's damping characteristics to suit different track conditions and driving styles.
  • Adjustable Duo-damper front suspension: Provides similar adjustability for the front suspension, contributing to precise handling and responsiveness.
  • Adjustable right/left chassis weight balance: Enables racers to optimize weight distribution for improved cornering and overall balance.
  • Lexan shell and ABS resin on Front and Rear spoilers: Combines durability with aerodynamic performance.
  • Optimal chassis layout to achieve ultra-low CG: Engineered for a low center of gravity to enhance stability and cornering speed.
  • Double arm front suspension: Offers robust and precise control over the front wheels.
  • Wheelbase: 114mm, a standard dimension for mini-scale F1 chassis.

Drivetrain and Electronics:

  • Newly designed rims and rubber tire for GLF-1: Compatible with GL & Mini-Z RWD rims, ensuring good grip and performance.
  • Aluminum motor mount: Provides a rigid and lightweight platform for the motor, aiding in heat dissipation.
  • Rear Metal ball differential: Offers smooth power delivery and improved traction.
  • High quality ball bearings: Reduces friction and improves efficiency throughout the drivetrain.
  • Metal gear servo with servo saver: Ensures precise steering control and protects the servo from impact damage.
  • Brushless motor ESC: Provides efficient and powerful motor control.
  • GL Micro receiver (GX-031): Recommended for optimal performance (sold separately).
  • Li-Po batteries powered: Utilizes Li-Po batteries for high power output (batteries sold separately).

Included Components: The manual details various components categorized into bags (A, B, C, D, E, F), including:

  • A Bag: Steering knuckles (1°, 2° options), front screw adjustable shock options, various suspension arms, ball nuts, side screw adjustable shock options, and pinions (9T to 14T).
  • B Bag: Rubber rings, balls, spur gear (53T), ball bearings (3x6x2.5), GL blue washers, M2 lock nuts, central long piston rod (compatible with GLR), front and side damper springs, center damper springs, various ball screws (M1.4x2, M2.0x4, M2.0x2.5), ball nuts (M2.0), and hex keys (1.5mm, 1.3mm).
  • C Bag: Motor mount, ESC (Hobbywing GSC V1.2), and servo.
  • D Bag: Chassis plates (main, upper), motor plate, battery holder, front and rear spoilers, and wheel hubs.
  • E Bag: A comprehensive assortment of screws including M1.2x4 PB, M1.2x2.5 PM, M1.6x3.5 PM, M2x3 KM, M2x4 KB, M2x4 KM, M2x4 Cup Head, M2x4 TB, M2x4 TM, M2x5 KM, M2x5 TM, M2x6 KB, M2x8 KM, and M3x3 Grub.
  • F Bag: Lexan body shell and decal sheet.

Usage Features

Assembly: The manual provides a detailed, step-by-step visual guide for assembling the GLF-1 chassis, starting with the rear differential and progressing through the motor mount, front and rear suspensions, steering assembly, and final body installation. Each step clearly labels the parts required from the various bags (A, B, C, D, E).

Adjustability:

  • Rear Ride Height Adjustment: Achieved by switching between A-33 and A-34 components (or A-34 and A-34) to raise or lower the rear ride height.
  • Front Ride Height Adjustment: Achieved by switching the B-36 spacers to the top for adjustment, with options for 4, 3, 2, 1, or 0 spacers.
  • Steering Rods Length: Keeping the steering rods (P-13) between 13.4mm to 13.6mm is crucial. Shorter lengths can cause toe-out for stable cornering, while longer lengths can lead to toe-in for steering sensitivity.
  • Pinion Gear: Switching the pinion gear (A-42 to A-47, 9T to 14T) allows for changing the gear ratio to suit various track layouts.

Recommended Components (Sold Separately):

  • Receiver: GL Micro receiver (GX-031).
  • Li-Po Battery: Required for operation.
  • Motor:
    • For beginners: 2500KV motor.
    • For competition: 3500KV motor or above.
  • Tires:
    • Front Tires: GLF001-23 (Soft), GLF001-25 (Medium), GLF001-27 (Hard).
    • Rear Tires: V1R10-F1-GL (Soft), V9R10-F1-GL (Hard).

Maintenance Features

Basic Setup Tips (Before First Run):

  • Ball Joint and Movement Parts: Ensure all ball joints and moving parts move freely.
  • Grease Application: Apply suitable grease to shocks (P-15 and P-21) and the ball differential (P-10). Specific grease recommendations include TEAM KYOSHO #30000 Diff. Gear Grease for the side damper and #15000 Diff. Gear Grease for the center damper.
  • Tire Fixing: Tires must be fixed to the rims (P-21) using superglue (e.g., Aron Alpha).
  • Down Stop Screw Adjustment: Adjust the down stop screw (P-15) to ensure the front lower arm is horizontal. It's emphasized that NO DOWN STOP IS REQUIRED IN THE FIRST SET UP, as applying it can cause steering sensitivity.
  • Central Shocks Alignment: Adjust central shocks to align flat with the chassis front and rear.
  • Ride Height Adjustment: Adjust ride height to approximately 3mm on the front (P-20) and rear (P-11) before running.
  • Wheel Movement: After tightening wheel nuts, ensure the wheel moves freely. If it binds, loosen the nut slightly.
  • Body Shell Installation: After installing the body shell, re-check that all moving parts are free.

Tips for Assembly:

  • Motor Plate: The motor plate is delicate due to many holes; press it onto the motor mount carefully.
  • Rear Subframe Spacer: Put a 2x4 spacer between B-34 and C-1 for the rear subframe.
  • Steering Knuckles Spacers: A total of 4x B-36 spacers are required on top and bottom of the steering knuckles. Incorrect spacer count may affect camber gain.
  • Tire Assembly: Apply superglue for front/rear rubber tire assembly.

Recommended Basic Option Parts (Available at GL Online Shop):

  • GLF-OP-001 Side Shock Spring
  • GLF-OP-002 Front Shock Spring
  • GLF-OP-003 Side Screw Adjustable Shock
  • GLF-OP-004 Front Screw Adjustable Shock
  • GLF-OP-005 Steering Knuckles (1°)
  • GLF-OP-007 Central Long Piston Rod (Compatible with GLR)
  • GLR-003-CL Central Shock Spring (Compatible with GLR)

These options allow for further customization and performance tuning of the GLF-1 chassis.
