Overview

This document describes the GLEMM MXD 06, MXD 08, and MXD 10 Microphone Mixers, which are designed for a variety of audio applications, including musical performances, conferences, gyms, and schools. The manual provides detailed instructions for operation, technical specifications, and safety precautions.

Function Description:

The GLEMM MXD series mixers are designed to combine multiple audio input signals, process them, and output a mixed signal. They support both microphone and line-level inputs, offering flexibility for various audio sources. Key functionalities include:

  • Mixing: Combining signals from multiple channels.
  • Equalization (EQ): Adjusting the tonal balance (treble, midrange, bass) of individual channels and the overall mixed signal.
  • Effects (FX): Applying digital effects to audio signals.
  • Phantom Power (+48V): Supplying power to condenser microphones.
  • USB Playback/Recording: Playing MP3 files from a USB stick or external disk and recording audio to a USB device.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity: Receiving audio wirelessly from smartphones or other Bluetooth-enabled devices.
  • Monitoring: Allowing users to listen to specific channels or the main mix through headphones.

Important Technical Specifications:

Usage Features:

  • Input Channels (LINE IN/MIC 1-2): XLR connectors (1) provide balanced signals and +48V phantom power for condenser microphones. A 6.3mm unbalanced socket (2) is available for dynamic microphones.
    • Caution: Do not connect unbalanced sources to XLR inputs when +48V phantom power is active. Always disable the channel when connecting/disconnecting cables or activating/deactivating phantom power to avoid audio interference.
  • TRIM (3): Adjusts the input signal's gain level. Set the VU-meter to "O" so the PEAK LED does not remain steadily lit.
  • EQ (4): Three controls (High, Mid, Low) adjust the tonal characteristics of the channel's audio signal.
  • FX (5): Controls the level of the effect applied to the channel's audio signal.
  • PAN (6): Distributes the signal level between left and right channels for stereo imaging.
  • ON/OFF (7): Activates or deactivates the mixing channel. The button illuminates when active.
  • SLIDER (8): Adjusts the channel's volume. The PEAK LED indicates signal peaks and should not remain steadily lit. The SOLO button enables headphone pre-listening for the channel.
  • CD/TAPE (9): Input/output for line-level signals, often used with recorders. The mixing volume is controlled by a rotating knob (28).
  • MAIN OUT (10): Two XLR sockets provide the mixed signal output to an amplifier.
  • PHANTOM +48V (11): Activates +48V power on XLR channels 1-4 for condenser microphones.
    • Warning: Do not connect other microphones when this button is pressed to avoid damage.
  • DISPLAY BT/MP3 (19): Shows information about the current track (time, track number), track repeat settings, and Bluetooth status.
  • DISPLAY DSP (12): Shows the current DSP effect (16 settings available).
  • USB SOCKET (18): Connect a USB stick or external disk (FAT32 format) to play MP3 files.
  • DSP MODULE (13, 14, 15): Main knob (13) selects and confirms effects. Two rotating controls (14, 15) adjust effect level and parameters.
  • MP3/REC MODULE (20): Includes track selector, treble/bass controls, buttons for song playback (one, all, folder, random), and recording. Pressing the REC button sets the recording function; pressing the main knob starts/pauses recording; pressing REC again stops recording.
  • VU METER (21): Displays output or pre-listening signal levels and peaks. Ensure levels are not too high to prevent distortion or damage.
  • EFFECT (22): Adjusts the overall effect level on the main mix.
  • MP3/BT (23): Adjusts the volume of the MP3 module in the mix.
  • MAIN L/R (24): Two sliders adjust the master output volume.
  • BLUETOOTH (25): Press and hold to activate the Bluetooth receiver. Pair with a smartphone to send audio. Press and hold again to exit. Basic controls (forward, back, play/stop) are available on both the mixer and smartphone.
  • PHONES SOCKET (26): 6.3mm jack for headphones. Press "SOLO" on a channel to pre-listen. The PFL LED next to the headphone volume (30) lights up, and VU-METERS (21) show the headphone level.
  • AUX RETURN (29): Adjusts the level of the AUX return signal.
  • PFL/PHONES (30): Adjusts the headphone pre-listening signal level.
