9. When connecting the
cable, be sure it is not
near any engine parts
that will move.
10. Now start the vehicle with the good battery and run
the engine for awhile.
11. Try to start the vehicle with the dead battery.
If it won’t start after a few tries, it probably
needs service.
12. Remove the cables in reverse order to prevent
electrical shorting. Take care that they don’t touch
each other or any other metal.
Jumper Cable Removal
A. Heavy, Unpainted Metal Engine Part or part
marked “GND.”
B. Good Battery or Remote Positive (+) and
Negative (
-) Terminal.
C. Dead Battery or Remote Positive (+) and
Negative (
-) Terminal.
1. Disconnect the black negative (
-) cable from the
heavy, unpainted metal engine part, or the remote
negative (-) terminal marked “GND,” on the
vehicle that had the dead battery.
