Overview

This document provides instructions for the Gorenje Classico range hood models DK 63 MCLI and DK 63 MCLB. The range hood is designed for domestic use and can operate in two modes: external extraction (ducting version) or internal recirculation (filter version).

Function Description:

The Gorenje Classico range hood is designed to remove cooking fumes and odors from the kitchen.

  • Ducting Version: In this mode, fumes are expelled outside the building through a dedicated pipe connected to the hood's connection ring. Models without a suction motor operate exclusively in this mode and require connection to an external suction device (not supplied).
  • Filter Version: In this mode, the extracted air is degreased and deodorized before being recirculated back into the room through the upper outlet grid. This requires the installation of an additional active charcoal filter (purchased separately).

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Minimum Installation Distance: The minimum distance between the supporting surface for cooking equipment on the hob and the lowest part of the range hood must be at least 50 cm for electric cookers and 65 cm for gas or mixed cookers. If the gas hob's installation instructions specify a greater distance, that must be followed.
  • Ducting Pipe Diameter: The diameter of the exhausting pipe must be equal to that of the connection ring on the hood. Using smaller diameter pipes or wall openings will reduce suction performance and drastically increase noise.
  • Electrical Connection: The mains power supply must match the rating indicated on the plate inside the hood. If the hood has a plug, it should be connected to an accessible socket that complies with current regulations. If it does not have a plug (direct mains connection) or the plug is not in an accessible area, a double pole switch compliant with standards must be installed to ensure complete disconnection from the mains under over-current category III conditions.
  • Lamps: The hood uses 12V - 3W max G4 LED lamps.

Usage Features:

The range hood is operated via a knob with multiple settings:

  • ON/OFF Motor / Speed Increase:
    • Turning the knob to position "0" during operation turns the hood OFF.
    • Turning the knob from "0" to "1" turns the hood ON at speed 1.
    • Turning the knob further to the right (when the hood is ON) increases the motor speed from 1 to intensive (Speed 4).
    • Available speeds: Speed 1, Speed 2, Speed 3, Speed 4.
  • ON/OFF Lights: A separate control is available for turning the lights ON and OFF.
  • Recommended Use: For high concentrations of kitchen vapors, use the maximum suction speed. It is recommended to switch on the hood 5 minutes before cooking and leave it on for approximately 15 minutes after cooking is finished.

Maintenance Features:

  • Safety Precaution: Before any cleaning or maintenance, disconnect the hood from the electrical supply by unplugging it or switching off the main circuit breaker. Always wear work gloves during installation and maintenance.
  • Cleaning: The hood should be cleaned regularly, both internally and externally (at least once a month, or as frequently as grease filters are maintained). Use a cloth dampened with a neutral liquid detergent. Do not use abrasive products or alcohol. Failure to follow cleaning and filter replacement instructions can lead to fire risks.
  • Grease Filter: The grease filter traps cooking grease particles. It must be cleaned once a month (or when the filter saturation indicator, if present, signals the need) using non-aggressive detergents. It can be washed by hand or in a dishwasher at low temperatures and on a short cycle. Discoloration may occur in a dishwasher, but this does not affect filtering capacity. To remove the filter, pull the spring release handle.
  • Replacing Lamps: Disconnect the hood from electricity. Ensure lamps are cool before touching them. Use a flat head screwdriver or similar tool to pry loose the light cover. Replace damaged lamps with new 12V - 3W max G4 LED lamps, being careful not to touch them with bare hands. Reinstall the light cover until it snaps shut. If lights do not work, check proper installation before calling technical assistance.
