Overview

The Gourmia GK360 Electric Kettle is a compact and convenient appliance designed for quickly boiling water, offering an energy-saving alternative to stovetop methods. Its primary function is to heat water for various uses such as making tea, instant cocoa, oatmeal, or noodles. The kettle is designed to boil water faster than a microwave, providing efficiency for daily tasks.

One of the key usage features of this electric kettle is its portability and ease of serving. The kettle can be lifted off its 360-degree rotating base, allowing for cordless serving at the table. This design enhances flexibility and convenience, as users are not tethered by a power cord when pouring. The kettle also incorporates an automatic safety shut-off feature, which activates if there is insufficient water, preventing overheating and potential damage. This ensures safe operation, especially if the kettle is accidentally switched on without enough water. To prevent the kettle from operating dry, it is important not to fill it below the minimum capacity (MIN indicator line) or above the maximum indicator line. The water level indicator assists users in measuring the correct amount of water, helping to avoid spillage or overflow. Water can be filled either through the spout or by opening the lid.

For initial use, it is recommended to remove all packaging, stickers, and accessories from both the inside and outside of the kettle. Before its first use, the kettle should be filled to its maximum capacity with clean water and boiled. This water should then be discarded, and the process repeated. This helps to clean the kettle and remove any manufacturing residues. It is crucial to always unplug the kettle when filling or adding water for safety.

The Gourmia GK360 Electric Kettle is equipped with a dual voltage switch, allowing it to be used with either 220-240V or 100-120V electrical systems. Users need to use a flat-headed screwdriver to change the correct position on the black dial to match their local voltage. The appliance comes with a 3-conductor cord set that features a 3-prong grounding-type plug, which should be properly connected to a grounding-type outlet. If a 2-prong adapter is needed, it should be grounded to the outlet, and a qualified electrician should be consulted if there is any doubt about proper grounding. A short power cord is provided to reduce the risks of entanglement or tripping, but an extension cord can be used if its electrical rating is no less than that of the appliance. All cords should be positioned to avoid draping over counters or tabletops where they could be tripped over, especially by children.

Maintenance features for the Gourmia GK360 include straightforward cleaning and de-scaling instructions to ensure longevity and optimal performance. For general cleaning, the kettle should be unplugged and allowed to cool down before being wiped with a damp sponge. It is critical never to immerse the kettle, its base, the cord, or the electric plug in water, as electrical connections or the switch must not come into contact with water. Scouring pads should not be used for cleaning.

De-scaling is an important maintenance task, especially in areas with hard water, and should be performed regularly, preferably at least once a month. There are several methods for de-scaling. One method involves filling the kettle with 1/2 liter of white vinegar and letting it stand for one hour without heating. Another method uses citric acid: boil 1/2 liter of water, add 25g of citric acid, and let it stand for 15 minutes. Alternatively, a de-scaler specifically designed for plastic kettles can be used, following the manufacturer's instructions. After de-scaling, the kettle should be emptied and rinsed thoroughly 5 or 6 times. If necessary, the de-scaling process can be repeated.

In case of troubleshooting, if the kettle does not work or stops before boiling, users should first check if it is properly connected. If the kettle has been switched on without water or if scale has accumulated, causing the automatic shut-off to activate, the kettle should be allowed to cool, then filled with water. If scale is present, de-scaling should be performed. The kettle should then resume normal operation after about 15 minutes. If the water tastes like plastic, which can happen with new kettles, the water from the first few boilings should be discarded. If the problem persists, fill the kettle to maximum capacity, add two teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda, bring to a boil, de-scale, and then rinse the kettle. If the kettle has been dropped, leaks, or shows visible damage to the power cord, plug, or base, users should not attempt to dismantle it. Instead, it should be returned to an authorized service center for repairs, as only they are authorized to make such repairs. The type and serial number are located on the bottom of the kettle. The warranty covers manufacturing defects, but breakage or damage resulting from failure to comply with the instructions for use voids the guarantee. Gourmia reserves the right to modify the characteristics or components of its kettles at any time in the consumer's interest. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorized service center.

The product is designed with environmental protection in mind. At the end of its life, the device should be taken to a specially adapted waste-recycling center. The symbol on the product or its packaging indicates that it should not be treated as household waste but handed over to an applicable collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Proper disposal helps prevent potential negative consequences for the environment and human health that could result from inappropriate waste handling. For detailed information on recycling, users should contact their local council office or household waste disposal service.
