Do you have a question about the Green Leaf Workhorse LG15STS and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Workhorse Sprayer is a versatile 15-gallon trailer sprayer designed for various agricultural and lawn care applications. It is available in two main models: the LG15STS and the LG15DTS, both featuring a compact trailer and a 15-gallon polyethylene tank.

Function Description:

The sprayer's primary function is to apply liquids, such as chemicals, fertilizers, or water, over a designated area. The pumping system draws solution from the tank, through a strainer, and to the pump. The pump then forces the solution under pressure to the boom nozzles and/or a spray wand. A pressure switch automatically shuts off the pump when it reaches 60 PSI, preventing over-pressurization. The pressure can be regulated by opening or closing a valve on top of the tank. The boom nozzles provide an 80-inch wide spray swath, ensuring efficient coverage. The sprayer is designed to be towed behind a garden tractor or similar vehicle.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Tank Capacity: 15 Gallons (Polyethylene Tank)
  • Pump: Available with 2.2 GPM, 4.0 GPM, or 5.0 GPM diaphragm pumps, depending on the model.
  • Pressure: Adjustable, with a 0-60 PSI pressure gauge.
  • Boom Width: 80 inches (spray swath).
  • Wheels: 4.10/3.50-4 Pneumatic Tires.
  • Power: 12 Volt Diaphragm Pump.
  • Hose: 15 Ft. of 3/8" Hose (Handgun).
  • Wand: Lever Handgun.
  • Electrical: Lead Wire Assembly with switch (96").
  • Frame: Durable frame members for axle, front, back, and a 1 1/2" main beam.

Usage Features:

  • Adjustable Pressure: The system pressure can be adjusted by relieving liquid back to the tank, allowing for precise control over the spray output for both the wand and the boom.
  • Boom Operation: The lever on the manifold turns the spray boom on and off.
  • Spray Wand: Includes a lever handgun for targeted spot spraying or areas where the boom is not suitable.
  • Calibration: The manual provides detailed tip charts (Gallons per Acre, Gallons per 1000 Sq. Ft., Gallons per 100 Sq. Ft.) to help users determine the appropriate spraying pressure (PSI) and speed (MPH) based on chemical label requirements.
  • Speed Chart: A speed chart is included to assist in determining the correct tractor speed for accurate application by measuring travel time over marked distances (100, 200, or 300 ft).
  • Easy Assembly: The manual provides step-by-step instructions for assembling the trailer, spray tank, spray boom, and pump/valve components.
  • Safety: Users are advised to consider weather and terrain conditions, avoid spraying on windy days, and wear protective clothing. Always read chemical labels carefully.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Inspection: Regularly inspect the suction supply screen inside the tank and flush it with water to clear any accumulated debris.
  • Cleaning After Use: After each use, fill the sprayer part way with water and pump clear water through the system and nozzles. Refill the tank about half full with plain water and use a chemical neutralizer (e.g., Nutra-Sol®) to flush the entire sprayer, following the chemical manufacturer's disposal instructions for all wash or rinsing water.
  • Nozzle Maintenance: Remove tips and screens from the boom. Wash them thoroughly with water or a cleaning solution appropriate for the chemical used. Blow out the orifice and clean it with a fine bristle brush or toothpick if clogged, being careful not to damage the orifice. Rinse and dry tips before storing.
  • Winter Storage: Before storing for winter, drain all water and chemicals from the sprayer, paying special attention to the pump and valves, which are susceptible to damage from freezing. Winterize the sprayer by pumping a solution of RV antifreeze through the entire plumbing system to prevent freezing and prolong the life of the sprayer.
  • General Maintenance: The manual recommends checking the system against operating standards, flushing with clean water and storing in a dry place, and regularly verifying and cleaning all operating standards.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance on common issues, such as the pump not operating, pump running but not spraying, or pump running but not building pressure, and offers solutions like checking electrical connections, ensuring proper voltage, and inspecting for clogs or leaks.
