The GreenLife™ Now Showing is an electrical appliance designed to make popcorn using hot air. Usage Features:
- Capacity: The butter warmer/kernel scoop can hold up to ½ cup of kernels. A ½ cup of uncooked kernels yields approximately 15-18 cups of popped popcorn.
- Operation:
- Fill the butter warmer/kernel scoop with up to ½ cup of kernels.
- Remove the chute and pour kernels into the popping chamber. It is crucial NOT to operate the popper without kernels in the chamber.
- Replace the chute and return the butter warmer/kernel scoop. The unit should NOT be used without the butter warmer/kernel scoop in place.
- Optionally, add up to 2 tablespoons of butter to the butter warmer/kernel scoop for melting. IMPORTANT: Do not add any additional ingredients like butter, oil, salt, or sugar directly into the popping chamber, as this will cause damage.
- Ensure the chute is securely placed on top of the popping chamber.
- Place a large, heat-resistant bowl (large enough for about 15 cups of popcorn) under the chute.
- Turn the switch to ON.
- Turn the appliance OFF when the popping sound becomes infrequent or less intense (approximately 2-3 seconds between pops) to prevent burning. Immediately unplug the unit from the wall outlet.
- Safety Precautions During Use:
- The popping chamber becomes extremely hot after use. Do not remove the chute or put hands near the chamber until it is completely cool.
- Occasionally, hot kernels may be thrown from the popping chamber; keep face and hands away from the front chute and keep children away from the unit.
- Never leave the unit unattended.
- Never preheat the popping chamber prior to use.
- Never leave the product running after the popping cycle is complete.
- Failure to follow these instructions may cause the chute to melt, voiding the warranty.
- Additional Batches:
- Wait at least 15 minutes between batches to allow the unit to cool and the internal thermostat to reset.
- Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before removing the chute. Failure to do so can warp the chute and butter warmer/kernel scoop.
- Ensure the popping chamber is empty, unplugged, and cool before wiping it clean with a soft damp cloth for the next use.
- Popcorn Quality: Using fresh popcorn is important for optimal popping. Old kernels may not fully pop or may take longer. Store kernels in an airtight container at room temperature to retain moisture.
- Seasoning: Seasonings should NOT be added to popcorn kernels in the popping chamber. Add seasoning ONLY to the bowl of fully popped popcorn. Suggested seasonings include shredded cheese, paprika, adobo seasoning, hot sauce, garlic powder, taco seasoning, soy sauce, Italian seasoning, and herbs.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning:
- Unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Remove the chute and kernel scoop from the base and wash them with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe the base, popping chamber, and chute clean. Dry with a soft cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads.
- The chute and kernel scoop are top-shelf dishwasher safe. DO NOT place any other parts in the dishwasher.
- IMPORTANT: Never immerse the Now Showing, its cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
- Servicing: The appliance requires little maintenance and contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to repair it yourself. Any servicing requiring disassembly must be performed by a qualified appliance repair technician.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues like smoking, not working, or warped parts, along with their causes and solutions. For example, if the unit smokes, it could be due to kernel residue on the heating plate or old kernels. If it stops working while the indicator is on, it may have overheated, triggering an internal safety device.
