WITH ORX FLIGHT STABILIZER
Question and Answer IconNeed help?

Do you have a question about the H-KING F-16 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The H-King F-16 50mm EDF 4S with ORX Flight Stabilizer is a sophisticated radio-controlled flying model designed for low-hours to intermediate pilots. It is not a toy and requires caution, common sense, and basic mechanical ability to operate safely. The product is a PNF (Plug-N-Fly) version, meaning it comes mostly assembled but requires a radio system and battery.

Function Description:

The H-King F-16 is a radio-controlled electric ducted fan (EDF) jet model. Its primary function is to provide an enjoyable and stable flying experience for hobbyists. It features an integrated ORX flight stabilizer, which assists pilots by providing stability and control, especially beneficial for those with less experience. The stabilizer offers three distinct flight modes: Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert, allowing pilots to gradually increase the level of control and maneuverability as their skills improve. The model is powered by a high-power 50mm EDF unit and a brushless motor, ensuring strong performance.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Length: 775 mm
  • Wing Span: 550 mm
  • Weight w/battery: 520g (+/-10g) with a 4S Li-Po 1300mAh battery
  • Power System: 50 mm EDF 4S high power brushless motor
  • ESC: 30A with BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit)
  • Servos: 4 x 9g
  • Radio: Requires a 6-channel or up computer radio with electronic mixing capability (recommended)
  • Battery (Recommended): 1000-1300mAh 4S Li-Po 30-60C
  • Stabilization System: F-16 ORX Flight Stabilisation System
    • Integrated with a 32bit MCU and a 6-axis digital gyro for ultra-fast flight control response.
    • Tuned specifically for the F-16 model for optimal flying performance.
    • Supports PWM, PPM, and SBUS input, with auto-detection.
    • Offers 3 different flight modes: Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert.
  • Center of Gravity (C of G): 48-53 mm from the wing's leading edge. For initial flights, the forward measurement (48mm) is recommended.

Usage Features:

  • Outstanding Flight Characteristics: Designed to fly "on rails," indicating stable and predictable flight.
  • ORX Flight Stabilizer: Provides three flight modes:
    • Beginner Mode: Limits roll and pitch, and offers self-righting capabilities if the model spirals out of control. The servo movement is more pronounced in response to model tilting.
    • Intermediate Mode (Gyro On): Still assists with flying and smooths out movements but does not limit roll or pitch angles as much, nor does it self-right as quickly. Allows for simple aerobatics.
    • Expert Mode (Gyro Off): No gyro assist; suitable for experienced fliers who prefer full manual control.
  • Easy Assembly: Features a low parts count and a two-piece plug-in wing design with a carbon fiber wing joiner. The built-in magnet wing locking system on the wing saddle securely holds the wings.
  • Battery Compartment: Large compartment for easy battery installation and removal.
  • Factory-Finished: Comes with a vivid paint scheme and detailed graphics.
  • Channel Input:
    • PWM Input: Ch 1. Aileron, Ch 2. Elevator, Ch 3. Throttle, and Ch 5. Flight mode (assigned to a 3-way toggle switch).
    • PPM Input: Plug the flight mode/SBUS/PPM channel input plug into a receiver supporting PPM out. Ch 1. Aileron, Ch 2. Elevator, Ch 3. Throttle, Ch 5. Flight mode.
    • SBUS Input: Plug the Flight mode/SBUS/PPM channel input plug into a receiver supporting SBUS. Ch 5. Flight mode.
  • TX and ORX Stabilization Device Setup:
    • Requires placing the F-16 on level ground for auto self-calibration upon battery connection. The LED light on the stabilization device flashes rapidly, then turns solid, and control surfaces move up/down and left/right three times to indicate successful calibration.
    • The gyro is activated by a short throttle blip (10-15%) after calibration.
    • Expo/Dual rates for elevator and aileron channels should only be set under Intermediate and Expert flight modes.
  • LED Indication Status:
    • LED off: No radio signal.
    • LED solid: Beginner mode.
    • LED flashes quickly: Intermediate mode.
    • LED flashes slowly: Expert mode.

Maintenance Features:

  • Assembly Instructions: Detailed steps for installing the main wing, horizontal stabilizer, vertical fin, and nose cone, including the use of foam-safe glue.
  • Pushrod Linkages Setup: Instructions for connecting pushrods to servo horns, ensuring perpendicular alignment and correct hole usage for ailerons and elevators.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: Comprehensive table addressing common issues such as motor not running, model moving backward, control surfaces not moving, model not flying straight, model not climbing well, and limited radio range, along with their causes and solutions.
  • Recommended Battery Packs: Provides specific Turnigy Nano-Tech Plus, Graphene Panther, and Nano-Tech Li-Po battery models with their SKUs for optimal performance.
  • Replacement Spare Parts: Lists available spare parts with their SKUs, including Canopy/Battery Hatch, Horizontal Stabilizers, Vertical Stabilizer, Carbon Wing Spar, Pushrod Set, and Fan Unit w/Motor.
  • Safety Precautions: Emphasizes user responsibility, the importance of operating in open outdoor spaces away from obstructions, caution with batteries, and keeping the fan intake clear. It also states that the product is not suitable for children under 14 years of age.
  • Switching On/Off Process: Strict guidelines for powering on (transmitter first, then flight battery) and powering off (flight battery first, then transmitter) to ensure safety.
