The Habitat Cool Mist Humidifier, Item # 40-687-000, is a household appliance designed for indoor use to increase humidity in medium to large rooms. It operates by producing a cool mist, which is released into the air to alleviate dryness.

Function Description:

The humidifier works by drawing water from its tank and converting it into a fine mist using an ultrasonic transducer. This mist is then expelled through the mist output opening, humidifying the surrounding air. The device features an adjustable mist knob, allowing users to control the amount of vapor flow according to their preference. It also includes a color-changing LED night light, which can be turned on or off via a switch on the back of the unit. The humidifier is designed to stop automatically when the water tank is empty, ensuring safe operation.

Usage Features:

1. Preparation: Before use, ensure the humidifier is clean, the power knob is in the OFF position (all the way to the left), and the power cord is disconnected.
2. Filling the Water Tank: Gently remove the water tank from the base. Unscrew the cap on the underside of the tank. Fill the tank with clean, cool, filtered, or distilled water, leaving approximately 1/4 inch of space from the rim when the tank is upside down. Do not use hot water, and do not add salt, fragrance/essential oils, medication, or descaling tablets to the water. Screw the cap back on securely.
3. Assembly: Fit the water tank, right side up, back into the base of the unit, ensuring it is properly secured in place.
4. Power Connection: Connect the humidifier to a power outlet.
5. Turning On and Adjusting Mist: Turn the unit ON by moving the mist regulation knob clockwise. The power indicator light will turn red, and vapor will begin to exit. Continue rotating the knob clockwise to increase the mist output, or counter-clockwise to decrease it.
6. LED Night Light: To activate the color-changing LED night light, switch the LED switch located on the back of the unit to the ON position.
7. Turning Off: To turn the unit OFF, turn the mist regulation knob counter-clockwise until the red power light turns off.
8. Automatic Shut-off: The humidifier will automatically stop operating when the water tank is empty.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning is essential for optimal performance and longevity of the humidifier. Always turn the humidifier OFF and disconnect the plug from the power outlet before any cleaning or maintenance. Do not place the humidifier directly under running water, wet the power cable or air outlet, or scrape the ultrasonic transducer with metallic objects. Do not leave water in the tank when not in use.

Daily Cleaning:

1. Remove the water tank from the base, unscrew the cap, and pour out all remaining water.
2. Clean the tank, reservoir, and transducer with a soft, clean cloth.
3. Dry all parts thoroughly before storage or next use.

Weekly Cleaning:

1. Remove the water tank from the base, unscrew the cap, and pour out all remaining water.
2. Prepare a water solution with 50% white vinegar and pour it into the water tank.
3. Screw the cap back on and fit the water tank, right side up, back into the base. Ensure it is properly secured.
4. Allow the solution to soak for at least 4 hours (overnight is ideal). Do not turn on or operate the humidifier with the water/white vinegar cleaning solution.
5. Remove the water tank and cap, pour out the cleaning solution, and rinse the tank thoroughly with cool, clean water.
6. Wipe the tank, reservoir, and transducer with a soft, clean cloth and dry thoroughly.
7. Clean the outer surfaces of the humidifier with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive products, alcohol, solvents, or similar chemicals, as they can cause permanent damage to the outer surface.

Troubleshooting:

• Humidifier not working: Check if the plug is connected correctly, the switch is in the ON position, and there is sufficient water in the tank. Ensure the water tank is properly in place and secured.
• No vapor flow: Check for hard water deposits on the ultrasonic transducer and ensure there is sufficient water in the tank.
• Strange odor: Clean the water tank and reservoir with a water/white vinegar solution, then rinse with clean water. Aerate the water tank in a cool place for 12 hours.
