Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive user's manual for the Haden Built-in Electrical Oven, models HSBI05W-X and HSBI08W-X, providing essential information on its function, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Haden Built-in Electrical Oven is a multifunction oven designed for domestic use, offering various cooking functions to cater to different culinary needs. It features both upper and lower heating elements, a grill function, and a turbo fan for enhanced cooking capabilities. The oven's temperature is adjustable via a thermostat control knob, allowing users to select temperatures between 50°C and 185°C. A signal lamp indicates when the heaters are in operation and turns off once the desired temperature is reached, maintaining a consistent temperature throughout the cooking process. The inner lamp illuminates when a function is selected, providing visibility inside the oven.

The oven is equipped with a mechanical timer, allowing users to set cooking durations from 0 to 90 minutes. Once the set time elapses, the oven automatically switches off. Alternatively, a manual step ('M' position) can be selected for continuous operation. The digital timer offers more advanced programming, enabling users to set a specific cooking time and a "ready time" for when the food should be prepared. It can also function as an alarm clock.

Usage Features

Before initial use, it is crucial to remove all internal and external packaging materials and inspect for transportation damage. If damage is found, the appliance should not be operated, and an authorized service provider should be contacted. For the first use, a temporary smell and smoke may occur due to protective grease on the heating elements; this is normal and will dissipate after the initial operation. During this process, ensure the room is well ventilated. After the oven has cooled completely, it should be cleaned with a damp cloth or sponge.

The oven offers several cooking functions:

  • Upper and Lower Heater: This function utilizes both heating elements simultaneously for general cooking.
  • Lower Heater with Fan: This function applies more heat to the base of the dish, making it suitable for warming plates or dishes that require bottom heat.
  • Grill: When using the grill function, the oven door should be opened, and the heat deflection panel (supplied with the oven) attached to the door. This prevents damage to the control panel and overheating of the control knobs. The double power heater operates in this mode, providing a charcoal-cooked taste for meat, chicken, or fish. Pre-heating the grill for 5 to 10 minutes is recommended. To prevent sticking, food should be placed on an oiled grid on the upper shelf, with a tray on the lower shelf to collect dripping fats.
  • Defrost: This function is designed for defrosting frozen food. Place the food on the middle of the grid on the third shelf to ensure air circulation, with another tray on the lower shelf to collect dripping water. The lid should be closed, and the defrost position selected.
  • Classical Cooking with Turbo: This function combines the turbo fan with the lower and upper heaters, making it ideal for cakes and cookies with short baking times, ensuring a consistent temperature throughout the oven. Pre-heating the oven in this mode is always advised.

The mechanical timer is operated by turning the knob clockwise to set the desired minutes. The oven will only operate if the timer knob is set to a position other than '•'. To stop cooking, the thermostat knob should be returned to '•'.

The digital timer allows for precise programming. Upon power-up, the clock will flash "0:00" with "auto" displayed, and the timer cannot be programmed until the clock is set to manual mode. In manual mode, the time of day can be adjusted using the '+' and '-' buttons. The buzzer alarm can be programmed to sound after a set period, and its tone can be adjusted. A child lock feature prevents accidental activation or interruption of cooking programs by locking the buttons.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance and cleaning are essential for extending the economical life of the appliance. Before any maintenance or cleaning, the oven must be disconnected from the mains power supply and allowed to cool completely.

  • General Cleaning: The oven should be cleaned with a damp cloth or sponge. Abrasive powders, harsh abrasive cleaners, sharp metal scrapers, or steam cleaners should not be used, as they can damage the surfaces. Enamelled parts can be cleaned with soapy water and a soft cloth. Dirt on the control panel should not be scraped off with sharp tools to avoid scratches.
  • Oven Door Cleaning: The oven door is removable for easier cleaning. To remove, open the door completely, flip up the hinge catches on both sides, grasp the door with both hands, raise it slightly, and pull it backward. After cleaning, ensure the hinge catches are re-engaged when placing the door back. To extend the appliance's life, keep the oven door open until it is completely dry after use.
  • Spillage Management: Any spillage on the hob surface should be removed before opening the lid and allowed to cool before closing it. Avoid pouring water on the appliance during operation and prevent contact with acidic or alkaline substances (e.g., vinegar, lemon juice, salt). If contact occurs, wipe and clean immediately, paying attention to hot parts.
  • Lamp Replacement: Before replacing or cleaning the oven lamp, ensure the appliance is switched off to avoid electric shock.

The manufacturer is not responsible for damages resulting from inappropriate usage of the appliance. The guarantee is valid in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland only, is non-transferable, and applies only to the original purchaser. The guarantee covers electrical and mechanical faults from faulty materials, defective components, or manufacturing defects, including replacement functional parts and labor costs of an approved Haden engineer. It covers domestic use at residential addresses.

Guarantee Exclusions:

  • Transit, delivery, or cold weather damage.
  • Incorrect installation (appliances must be connected safely and correctly to mains electricity, gas, and water according to the instruction manual and by qualified installers).
  • Repair or interference by unauthorized persons.
  • Improper use or abuse.
  • Accidental damage.
  • Reversal of door or door handles on cooling appliances.
  • Repair or replacement of cosmetic or consumable parts (bulbs, plugs, fuses, cables, filters, attachments, control knobs, flaps, container lids, handles, glass and wire shelves, rubber hoses, plastic door shelves, oven baking trays, and shelves), including parts worn, discolored, or damaged by incorrect use or cleaning.
