Do you have a question about the Half Off Ponds Aqua Pulse Series and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Aqua Pulse Series Pond Pump, distributed by Half Off Ponds, is a submersible pump designed for use in Koi ponds, water gardens, waterfalls, and fountain applications. Its primary function is to circulate and oxygenate clear water, contributing to healthy aquatic environments.

Function Description:

The pump is designed to be fully submerged in water, ensuring the pump body fills with water for proper operation. A minimum water level of approximately 6 inches (15 cm) is required for submersible use to prevent the pump from taking in air. For optimal performance and to prevent premature clogging, it should be placed above any mud in the pond. The pump is versatile, accommodating both internal and external threads through its socket, making it suitable for various accessories such as fountain jets, nozzles, water height regulators, and standpipes. When used with fountain jets, it should be stationed firmly and horizontally. The pump is easily operated by simply plugging it in to switch it on and unplugging it to switch it off. It is crucial not to run the pump dry, as this will cause damage to the motor and void the warranty. The water temperature should not exceed 95°F (35°C), and the pump should not be allowed to freeze in winter.

The pump is supplied with a grounding conductor and grounding-type attachment plug. It must be connected only to a properly grounded, grounding-type receptacle. For safety, the pump should be supplied through a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA. The electrical connection should be in a waterproof area, at least 6 feet away from the pond edge, and a "Drip Loop" should be formed in the electrical cord to prevent water from running into the outlet.

Usage Features:

The Aqua Pulse Series Pond Pump is designed for ease of installation and use. It can be mounted using suction cups or four screws, ensuring it is securely installed before operation. The pump is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the pump.

The pump features a built-in thermal overload trip to prevent overheating. If the pump stops due to overheating, it must be allowed to cool down before restarting. If it doesn't restart automatically, users should check for sufficient water supply, clogged filters, dirt in the pump housing, or clogged hoses/jets.

Maintenance Features:

Proper care and maintenance are essential for efficient functioning and extended service life. Always unplug the pump before handling, cleaning, or performing any work on the fountain or pond.

  • Regular Cleaning: If the pump is housed in a skimmer, ensure the screens and filters are kept clean and free of debris to allow unrestricted water flow. If the pump operates directly in the water feature, the intake screen must be kept clean. Pumps that run dry or are damaged due to restricted water flow are not covered under warranty.
  • Intensive Cleaning: For more intensive cleaning, the pump can be disassembled.
    1. Press the intake cover (1) laterally and remove it from the pump housing.
    2. Loosen the four outer screws (9).
    3. Rotate the pump housing (6) ¼ turn counter-clockwise and unclip it from the motor housing (4).
    4. Remove the rotor (8) from the motor housing (4).
    5. Clean all parts using water and a soft sponge. In hard water conditions, a mixture of CLR (Calcium Lime Rust Remover) and water is recommended.
  • Reassembly:
    1. Carefully place the rotor (8) in the motor housing (4), ensuring it is correctly assembled and turns freely.
    2. Check the position of the sealing ring (7) on the pump housing (6).
    3. Place the pump housing (6) on and turn clockwise 1¼ turn.
    4. Tighten the four screws (9) uniformly.
    5. Place the intake cover (1) on the pump housing (6).
  • Hard Water Conditions: In areas with hard water, it is recommended to periodically remove the pump and operate it for up to 36 hours in a solution of CLR and water. Rinse thoroughly before re-installing.

Warranty:

Half Off Ponds (HOP) warrants these products to the original user against defects in material and workmanship for 24 months from the date of purchase, not exceeding 30 months from the date of manufacture. HOP's liability is limited to repairing or replacing the defective product at its discretion, without charge, F.O.B. HOP. The warranty does not cover costs of removal, installation, transportation, or other charges. To obtain service, the defective product must be returned to HOP with proof of purchase, installation date, failure date, and supporting installation data. An Authorized Warranty Return (AWR) may be required. Cutting the plug end off the cord will void the warranty and may create an electrical hazard. The pump is not designed or intended for use in swimming pools or marine areas, and using it in non-approved applications will void the warranty.
