Overview

The device is a "Happy Beaks Bird Hotel with Solar Light," identified by model numbers G2733, G2734, and G4709. It functions as a bird bath and feeder, incorporating a solar-powered light for illumination.

Function Description:

The primary function of this product is to provide a habitat and resource point for birds. It includes a bird bath (pool and basin) for water, a dish for food, and a solar light for nighttime illumination, making it a "bird hotel." The solar light charges during the day and automatically illuminates at night, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of a garden while also potentially attracting birds. The structure is designed to be placed on a flat, level surface and can be secured into the ground using supplied pegs for stability. For additional stability, the upper pole can be filled with sand or gravel to weigh the product down.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Source: Solar-powered.
  • Battery: 1x Ni-MH AA 600mAH 1.2V rechargeable battery (included).
  • Solar Panel Requirement: Requires at least 6 hours of direct sunlight for the lights to illuminate effectively. The solar panel must be placed in a well-lit location for maximum sunlight absorption. Shading on the panel will affect brightness and lighting duration. Charging time will be reduced during winter months due to limited daylight hours.
  • Components: The product consists of multiple parts, including a solar light (A), roof (B), screws (C), brace (D), pool (E), connector (F), barriers (G), basin (H), upper pole (I), lower pole (J), base (K), dish (L), tripod (M), on/off switch (N), large screw (O), bolt & washer (P), small basin (Q), and ground pegs.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The product requires assembly following a detailed 11-step process. Key assembly steps include:
    1. Screwing the lower pole (J) into the base (K), placing the small basin (Q) on top of the lower pole (J), and screwing the upper pole (I) into the lower pole (J). The upper pole (I) can be filled with sand or gravel for added weight and stability.
    2. Attaching the connector (F) to the inside of the basin (H) with the large screw (O).
    3. Connecting the upper pole (I) and the basin (H).
    4. Inserting barriers (G) into the inside of the pool (E) and securing them with screws (C).
    5. Connecting the barriers (G) and the brace (D) with screws (C).
    6. Connecting the roof (B) with the brace (D) with screws (C).
    7. Inserting the solar light (A) into the roof (B).
    8. Connecting the tripod (M) to the connector (F) using the bolt and washer (P).
    9. Screwing the tripod (M) to the underside of the pool (E) with three screws (C).
    10. Inserting the dish (L) into the pool (E).
    11. Securing the entire structure into the ground with the supplied pegs.
  • Placement: Always place the bird bath on a flat and level surface.
  • Battery Handling:
    • Do not mix old and new batteries, as this can cause leakage of caustic acid, leading to skin burns and material damage.
    • Observe correct polarity when installing batteries.
    • Keep batteries out of reach of children.
    • Wear gloves and use caution when removing leaking batteries.
    • Dispose of batteries correctly by recycling them at a local recycling centre.
  • Safety: Keep away from children.
  • On/Off Switch: The product includes an on/off switch (N) for controlling the solar light.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth as and when required to remove surface dust and debris. A dirty solar panel will inhibit charging and reduce usage time, so it's important to keep it clean.
  • Disposal: Waste electrical products, including the battery, should not be disposed of with household waste. They must be recycled where facilities exist. Check with your Local Authority or retailer for recycling advice. The product is marked with the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol, indicating it must be recycled.
  • Guarantee: The product comes with a 12-month guarantee for domestic use against manufacturing faults. This guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear, misuse, neglect, or attempted repairs by unauthorized service centres. Product specifications may change without prior notice due to continuous improvement.
