This manual describes a car infotainment system available in three models: GEN3 BASE BC7, GEN3 BASE+ BC7, GEN3 MID BC7, and GEN3 HIGH BC7. The system is designed to provide navigation, communication, and entertainment features, with an emphasis on intuitive and safe operation while driving.
Function Description
The system offers a range of functions, including:
- Navigation System: Provides route guidance, map display, and destination search capabilities. It's important to note that map data may not always be up-to-date due to continuous changes in roads and facilities. Users are advised to rely on actual traffic regulations and road conditions.
- Bluetooth Connectivity: Allows pairing with up to five Bluetooth phones/devices for hands-free calling and audio streaming. This includes support for Bluetooth 2.1 (6.5-inch system) and Bluetooth 3.0 (8-inch systems).
- Phone Functions: Enables making and receiving calls, phonebook download, and managing connection priority.
- Apps: Provides access to various applications.
- Apple CarPlay / Android Auto: Supports integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing access to maps, phone calls, and music from compatible smartphones.
- Radio: Includes AM/FM radio, HD Radio receiver (8-inch systems), and SiriusXM® satellite radio (8-inch systems).
- Media Playback: Supports playback from USB, iPod, Bluetooth audio, and AUX sources. The 8-inch systems also include a CD slot for CD playback.
- Voice Recognition System: Allows for hands-free control of various system functions using voice commands.
- Steering Wheel Controls: Integrates with vehicle steering wheel controls for convenient operation without taking hands off the wheel.
- Rear View Camera: Displays images from the rear view camera to assist with parking and maneuvering.
Usage Features

- Standardized Operation Screen Layout: Features mode switching buttons on the left and operation buttons on the right and at the bottom, ensuring a consistent user experience across different functions. This design aims to prevent users from getting lost in the system's interface.
- Pop-up Screens: Utilizes pop-up screens instead of full screen switches to display information or options, allowing users to maintain context and not lose sight of the current screen.
- Easy-to-view Map Screen Display: Minimizes constantly displayed buttons on the map screen to provide a wider and clearer view of the map. Hidden buttons can be displayed by touching the screen.
- Customized Home Screen Layout: Allows users to add frequently used functions and operations as shortcuts to the home screen, enabling personalization and quick access.
- Rough Destination Search Function: Facilitates destination searches using various keywords such as addresses, facility names, and intersection names. The system provides search predictions and candidates even with partial keywords.
- Safety Instructions: Emphasizes safe driving practices. Users are advised to operate the system only when the vehicle is stopped and the parking brake is applied. Certain functions are disabled while driving to prevent distraction. Voice instructions should be listened to, and the screen should only be glanced at briefly when safe. The system is an assistance tool and not a substitute for the driver's personal judgment.
Maintenance Features
- Cleaning the Display: The screen is prone to fingerprints and dust. It should be cleaned occasionally by turning off the power and wiping lightly with a soft, dry cloth. For dirt removal, a soft cloth soaked in neutral detergent and squeezed well can be used. Avoid using wet floor-cloths, organic solvents (benzene, ethanol, thinner, etc.), acids, or alkalis, as these can cause screen deterioration. Do not hit or rub the screen with hard objects.
- Fuse Replacement: Always replace fuses with those of the same specified capacity (amperage) to prevent fire.
- Temperature Considerations: Using the unit in extremely high or low temperatures may lead to mistaken operation or malfunction. In summer, if the vehicle's interior temperature is high, cool it down (e.g., by opening a window) before using the unit.
- Condensation: If condensation forms inside the touch buttons on the display screen, they may not operate correctly. Wait until the condensation has disappeared before attempting to operate the switches.
- Data Protection: The device is precision-engineered, and recorded data can be lost due to static electricity, electrical noise, vibration, or other influences. It is recommended to keep a separate record of data recorded after purchase.
- Troubleshooting: If the unit malfunctions (e.g., screen not lit, no sound), stop using it and contact a SUBARU dealer. If a foreign object or water enters the unit, or if smoke or a strange odor is emitted, stop using it immediately and contact a SUBARU dealer.
- CD Reader Condensation (8-inch with Navi system/8-inch system only): If dew adheres to the CD reader lens after turning on the heater in low temperatures, leave the unit for about an hour to allow condensation to clear. If normal operation does not return, contact a SUBARU dealer.
- Battery Protection: Although the unit can be used when the ignition switch is set to "ACC" or "ON," it is recommended to start the engine before using the unit to protect the battery.
