IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Use only the manufacturer’s replacement line in the
cutting head. Do not use any other cutting attachment,
for example, metal wire, rope, or the like. To install any
other brand of cutting head to this string trimmer can
result in serious personal injury.
Neveroperateunitwithoutthegrassdeflectorinplace
and in good condition.
Maintain a firm grip on both handles while trimming. Keep
stringheadbelowwaistlevel.Nevercutwiththestring
headlocatedover30in.ormoreabovetheground.
Store idle appliances indoors – When not in use, string
trimmer should be stored indoors in a dry, locked place
out of the reach of children.
Neveruseblades,flailingdevices,wire,orrope.Unitis
designed for line trimmer use only. Use of any other ac-
cessories or attachments will increase the risk of injury.
Inspectareatobecut.Removeobjects(rocks,broken
glass, nails, wire, string, etc.) which can be thrown or
become entangled in cutting head.
Keep the air vents clean and free of debris to avoid
overheatingthemotor.Cleanaftereachuse.
Stop the unit and disconnect the power source when not
in use. Carry the unit with the motor stopped.
Store out of the reach of children.
Keep hands and feet away from cutting area.
Do not hang unit so that the switch trigger is depressed.
Disconnect appliance – Disconnect the appliance from
thepowersupplywhennotinuse,beforeservicing,when
changing accessories.
Whenservicinguseonlyidenticalreplacementparts.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has
apolarizedplug(onebladeiswiderthantheother)and
willrequiretheuseofapolarizedextensioncord.The
applianceplugwillfitintoapolarizedextensioncordonly
one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the extension
cord,reversetheplug.Iftheplugstilldoesnotfit,obtain
acorrectpolarizedextensioncord.Apolarizedextension
cordwillrequiretheuseofapolarizedwalloutlet.This
plugwillfitintothepolarizedwalloutletonlyoneway.If
theplugdoesnotfitfullyintothewalloutlet,reversethe
plug. If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified elec-
trician to install the proper wall outlet. Do not change the
equipment plug, extension cord receptacle, or extension
cord plug in any way.
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection should
beprovidedonthecircuit(s)oroutlet(s)tobeusedforthe
gardeningappliance.Receptaclesareavailablehaving
built-in GFCI protection and may be used for this mea-
sure of safety.
WARNING – To reduce the risk of electric shock, use only
with an extension cord intended for outdoor use, such as
an extension cord of cord type SW-A, SOW-A, STW-A,
STOW-A, SJW-A, SJOW-A, SJTW-A, or SJTOW-A.
Extension Cord – Make sure your extension cord is in
good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to
useoneheavyenoughtocarrythecurrentyourproduct
willdraw.Anundersizedextensioncordwillcauseadrop
inlinevoltageresultinginlossofpowerandoverheating.
Awiregaugesize(A.W.G.)ofatleast16 is recommended
foranextensioncord50feetorlessinlength.Ifindoubt,
usethenextheaviergage.Thesmallerthegagenumber,
theheavierthecord.Toreducetheriskofdisconnection
of appliance cord from the extension cord during oper-
ating, secure the extension cord to the appliance plug
as described in the Operating Manual.
Don’tAbuseCord–Nevercarryappliancebycordor
yank it to disconnect from receptacle. Keep cord from
heat, oil, and sharp edges.
Stopthemotor, wait untilallmoving parts cometoa
completestop,andremovethebatterypackordiscon-
nect from power supply before cleaning or performing
any maintenance.
Neverusewateroranyliquidstocleanorrinseoffyour
product and do not expose the product to rain or wet
conditions.Storeindoorsinadryarea.Corrosiveliquids,
water, and chemicals can enter the product’s electronic
componentsand/orbatterycompartmentanddamage
electroniccomponentsand/orthebatterypack,which
can result in a short circuit, increased risk of fire, and
seriouspersonalinjury.Removeanybuildupofdirtand
debris by wiping the product clean with a dry cloth oc-
casionally.
