The HAVSÖ Helena Percolator is a coffee brewing device designed for ease of use and consistent coffee quality. It is available in two models: Helena 2.0 and Helena 4.1, differing primarily in capacity and power.
Function Description
The percolator operates by heating water in a reservoir, which then rises through a pump tube and showers over ground coffee held in a coffee basket. The brewed coffee then drips back into the carafe, and the process repeats until the coffee reaches the desired strength. Both models feature an automatic shut-off function that turns off the percolator 30 minutes after brewing is complete. If the percolator is lifted from its power base, it will also shut off. A dry-boil protection mechanism prevents the percolator from operating without water, automatically activating and shutting off the unit if it runs dry. The stable lid ensures safe pouring, and the coffee basket is designed to hold ground coffee effectively. The pump tube delivers water automatically from the carafe to the coffee basket during the brewing process. The spout is designed for drip-free pouring, and the handle is ergonomically designed for easy pouring. The power base is designed to stay cool, preventing heat damage to tables and countertops, and includes a cord storage feature to keep the cord neatly wrapped around the base for short-term storage.
Indicators on the unit provide visual feedback on the brewing status. A red indicator illuminates when the percolator is brewing, and a green indicator illuminates when brewing is complete and the percolator enters keep-warm mode. No illumination means the percolator is off.

Usage Features
Before first use:
- Remove all packaging materials.
- Clean all parts of the percolator according to the "Maintenance" section.
- Run one cycle with fresh, cold water (without ground coffee) to clean the unit.
- Ensure the power supply cord is not tangled or tripping. If an extension cord is used, ensure its electrical rating is at least as great as the appliance's rating.
Operation:
- Remove the cover, coffee basket lid, and pump tube.
- Fill the percolator with water up to the desired marking. Do not overfill past the "6 / 0.75 L" (Helena 2.0) or "12 / 1.5 L" (Helena 4.1) markings to avoid scalding.
- Run cold water over the coffee basket to prevent ground coffee from sticking. Add the desired amount of coffee to the basket.
- Place the pump tube and coffee basket into the percolator so the bottom of the tube fits into the bottom of the percolator well.
- Place the basket cover on top of the coffee basket and press the cover onto the top of the percolator.
- Connect the power base to an electrical outlet and place the assembled percolator on the base.
- Press the power button to start the brewing process. The red indicator illuminates, and brewing begins within seconds.
- Once brewing is complete, the green indicator light will illuminate, signifying that the coffee is ready. The percolator will then go into keep-warm mode and automatically shut off after approximately 30 minutes.
- To start a new keep-warm cycle, press the on/off button again.
- Once brewing is completed, remove the percolator from the power base and pour the coffee.
After use:
- Disconnect the power base from the electrical outlet.
- Allow the percolator to cool down completely.
- Remove the cover carefully by pulling the knob.
- Remove the coffee basket from the pump tube assembly.
- Remove the coffee basket lid and pour out the ground coffee.
- Remove the pump tube assembly.
- Clean all parts by following the "Maintenance" section.
Safety Precautions:
- Scalding may occur if the cover is removed during the brewing cycle. Ensure brewing is completely stopped before removing the cover.
- If the percolator is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected, causing scalding.
- Always fill the percolator with water first, then connect to the electrical outlet.
- Do not operate the appliance in a locker or under a wall cabinet. Always disconnect the unit from the electrical outlet when storing.
- The coffee percolator must only be used with the provided power base.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Stainless steel parts of the percolator will be hot. Use the handle and knob.
- Ensure the voltage rating on the type plate corresponds to your mains voltage.
- Do not remove the cover if you suspect parts are still hot. Use oven mitts to avoid burns.
- Repairs to electrical appliances should only be performed by qualified personnel.
- Do not operate the appliance with a damaged plug or cord.
- Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
- Do not push objects into any openings.
- Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use.
- Do not place the appliance near heat-emitting appliances or in direct sunlight.
- The equipment is not intended for use by people (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience or knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a person responsible for their safety.

Maintenance Features
Cleaning and storage:
- Disconnect the power base from the electrical outlet.
- Ensure the appliance has completely cooled down.
- Disassemble the parts as described in the "After use" section.
- The percolator cover, basket, basket lid, and pump tube assembly can all be placed in the upper rack of a dishwasher or washed in warm soapy water and rinsed thoroughly.
- To clean the main body and power base, simply wipe with a clean, damp cloth and dry carefully before storing. Never wash the percolator's main body or power base and power cord in a dishwasher. Never immerse them in water or other liquids.
- Store the appliance in a cool, dry area with the cover off. Do not use scouring agents or harsh cleaners on any part of the percolator.
- The washer at the bottom of the pump tube must move freely. If ground coffee becomes trapped near the washer, loosen it with a toothpick and then run under tap water to clean.
Remove mineral deposits (descaling):
To keep the percolator operating efficiently, mineral deposits should be removed regularly. The frequency of descaling depends on the water quality in your area and the frequency of appliance use.
- To remove mineral deposits, fill the percolator with vinegar to the 4-cup level and then add water to the 6 (Helena 2.0) / 12 (Helena 4.1) cup level. The combined mixture must not exceed 6 / 12 cups. Ensure all parts are in place, and the lid is securely on.
- Connect the power cord to an electrical outlet. Let the unit run through its normal cycle. Once complete, discard the vinegar and water mixture.
- Run one cycle of fresh, cold water (without vinegar) through the unit before using it to brew coffee again.
