Overview

The Health o meter® Professional ProPlus® Display Module is a sophisticated microprocessor-technology electronic scale designed for accurate, reliable, and repeatable weight measurements, making the weighing process simple, fast, and convenient. It can be operated using an included AC adapter or by six D-cell batteries (not included).

Function Description

The ProPlus® Display Module serves as the primary interface for Health o meter® Professional scales, allowing users to perform various weighing operations, manage patient data, and configure scale settings.

  • Weighing: The core function involves measuring the weight of an object or patient. The scale uses motion-sensing technology to determine the actual weight of a moving patient, with an option to switch to "Live Weight" mode where the display fluctuates with patient movement.
  • Zeroing: The "ZERO" button allows the user to zero the scale prior to weighing, ensuring accurate measurements.
  • Hold/Release: The "HOLD/RELEASE" button holds the displayed weight value until pressed again to clear it. It also functions as a scroll-down button within the menu.
  • Reweigh: This feature enables repeated weighing of a patient without requiring them to step off the scale, useful for monitoring weight changes.
  • Units Toggle: The "KG/LB" button toggles the display between kilograms and pounds. It also serves as a scroll-up button in the menu.
  • Tare Function: The tare function subtracts the weight of an object (e.g., a wheelchair or shoes) from the total weight, providing the patient's net weight. Tare can be set automatically (Push Button Tare) by pressing the "TARE" button while an object is on the platform, or manually (Keypad Tare) by entering a specific tare value using the keypad. The tare value is stored in memory until changed, cleared, or the scale is turned off.
    • Tare Weight Limits: The maximum tare weight varies by scale model: 250lb (2101KL, 2500KL, 2600KL, 2650KL & 2700KL), 200lb (2400KL), 150lb (1100KL & 1600KL), and 125lb (2000KL).
  • BMI Calculation: The "BMI" button prompts the user to enter the patient's height to calculate their Body Mass Index. Height is entered in 1/4" increments for pounds (1/4", 1/2", 3/4") or 1cm increments for kilograms. BMI is not calculated for patients 24 pounds (12 kg) or less.
  • Patient ID Entry: The "ID" button allows entry of a patient's identification number, which is stored with all subsequent weighings until cleared or a new ID is entered.
  • Menu Navigation: The "MENU" button provides access to scale settings and data management options. Navigation is done using the up/down keys or by entering the associated menu position number. The menu is initially locked and requires pressing and holding the "MENU" key for 5 seconds to temporarily reactivate it.
  • Data Management: The scale manages patient data including ID, weight, height, tare, and BMI. Data can be transferred to a PC ("Auto Download") or stored in memory ("Store In memory"). The maximum capacity for stored files is 270. "Auto Download" is the default, transferring data to a PC when the patient steps off the scale or the HOLD/RELEASE button is pressed. If no PC is connected, data is lost unless stored in memory. If memory is full, the user is prompted to transfer or clear data.
  • PC Communication: The display uses an escape protocol for communicating with a PC via USB and serial ports, enabling commands and data transfer.
