- BBrooke ReynoldsAug 18, 2025
If the ODS/pilot lights, but the flame goes out when you release the control knob on your HearthRite Gas Heater, here's what might be happening and how to address it: * Ensure the control knob is fully pressed in and held for at least 30 seconds after the ODS/pilot lights. * Make sure the equipment shutoff valve is fully open. * Check the thermocouple connection at the control valve and hand tighten it until it's snug, then give it an additional 1/4 turn. * There may be low gas pressure. Contact your local natural or propane/LP gas company. * The ODS/pilot may be dirty or partially clogged. Clean or replace the ODS/pilot assembly. * The thermocouple might be damaged and needs replacement. * The control valve may be damaged and needs replacement.
