Do you have a question about the heat-timer HWRQ Platinum and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Heat-Timer HWRQ Platinum is an advanced hydronic/hot water outdoor reset multiple boiler heating control system designed to optimize heating in commercial buildings. It manages circulating heating water temperature in response to outdoor temperature changes and controls boiler stages and system pumps to maintain comfortable and energy-efficient heat levels.

Function Description:

The HWRQ Platinum controls a hot water heating system by varying the circulating heating water temperature based on the Outdoor Temperature (OD). It stages up to eight on/off boilers (or various multi-stage boiler configurations) directly, or up to 24 on/off stages with the addition of up to two Extension Panels. The system also controls the circulating pump based on an adjustable Outdoor Cutoff. When the OD is above the Outdoor Cutoff, the pump is off; when below, the pump activates, and heating water circulates. The control calculates the Target Water Temperature (TGT) using a Reset Ratio and Outdoor Temperature, aiming to balance heat input with heat loss. It monitors the System Water Temperature (SYS) and adjusts boiler stages to match the TGT.

  • Early Shutdown: Self-adjusting from 0 to 90 minutes
  • Power Backup: Lithium coin battery, 100 days minimum 5 year replacement (Maintains Clock in power outages).
  • Remote Communications: Internet (RINet), BACnet IP/MSTP, or MODBUS RTU
  • External Inputs: 1 Network Input, 3 Aux Inputs, DHW Call Input, Shutdown Input, and Prove Input.
  • Network Input Maximum Sensors: 64 Neuron Sensors including MIG Sensors.
  • Season: Winter and Summer.
  • Enclosure: Follows NEMA 1 Standard
  • Dimensions: 5-¼" x 13" x 13"
  • Weight: 14 pounds

Usage Features:

  • Digital Display: Shows system status, target, outdoor, and system temperatures. A knob allows navigation through menus and adjustment of settings.
  • Outdoor Reset/Set Point Control: Can operate in Outdoor Reset mode (adjusting TGT based on OD) for fuel savings and comfort, or Set Point mode (maintaining an adjustable TGT).
  • PID or Oversize Control Logic: PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) logic sequences stages based on the rate of change in System Temperature for stable operation. Oversize logic sequences stages proportionally based on deviation from the Set Point, suitable for oversized systems.
  • Water Offset: Adjusts the starting point of the Reset Ratio curves, allowing fine-tuning of the TGT.
  • Setback and Schedules: Programs up to 4 Day and 4 Night settings for each day of the week to reduce TGT during unoccupied periods, saving energy.
  • Boost and Early Shutdown: Boost quickly raises building temperature after a Night Setback. Early Shutdown shifts to Night Setback earlier based on OD, further saving energy.
  • Multi-Stage Boiler Control: Configurable for various boiler-burner configurations, controlling up to 24 stages with extension panels.
  • Automatic Rotation: Promotes even wear on burners by rotating the lead boiler, with Manual, First-ON/First-OFF, or time-based rotation modes.
  • Boiler Lockout: Accepts lockout inputs from burners (with Extension Panel) to automatically skip locked-out boilers and maintain desired output.
  • Domestic Hot Water (DHW) Priority: Allows the HWRQ Platinum to prioritize DHW calls by raising TGT to 200°F or Max Water Temperature.
  • System Pump Run-On: Runs the system pump for a set period after boilers turn off to dissipate residual heat and prevent high limits from activating.
  • Remote Communication: Upgradeable to Internet, BACnet IP, BACnet MSTP, or MODBUS for remote monitoring, control, and alarm notifications.
  • Network Sensors: Supports up to 64 network sensors (e.g., stack, water meter, oil tank level, pressure, humidity) with a communication package, configurable remotely via the Internet.
  • Wireless Sensors: Reduces wiring by using wireless sensors with transceivers and a Network Manager.

Maintenance Features:

  • Sensor Fault Detection: Displays "OPEN," "SHORT," or incorrect temperature readings for Outdoor and System Sensors, indicating potential wiring or sensor damage.
  • Password Protection: Allows setting passwords to prevent unauthorized users from making changes to settings.
  • System and Outdoor Sensor Trim: Allows fine-tuning of sensor readings to match actual temperatures, compensating for installation variations.
  • Date and Time Setting: Ensures accurate scheduling and operation. Internet-capable controls can synchronize date and time from the Internet.
  • Internet Alarms: Pre-configured alarms (e.g., In Bypass, Space Temp Exceeds/Below Target, Communication Error, Lockout On Boiler, System Sensor Fault) can be activated and delivered via web, email, or text message.
  • Override Remote Changes: Settings changed remotely via Internet communication are automatically marked as overridden on the local display. These overridden settings can be adjusted locally with proper password access.
