This document describes the Heiniger Xplorer/E, a cordless clipper designed for cattle and horses, intended for commercial use.
Function Description
The Heiniger Xplorer/E clipper is specifically designed for shearing cattle and horses. Its cutting mechanism consists of two comb-shaped blades. The lower blade, which rests against the animal's skin, is fixed and screwed to the housing. The upper blade moves transversely against the lower blade, driven by a pivot lever. The clipping pressure between these blades can be adjusted via the adjustable head (1). This design ensures efficient and precise clipping, making it suitable for professional use in agricultural settings. The cordless nature of the device, powered by a Li-Ion battery, offers enhanced mobility and flexibility during operation.
Important Technical Specifications
The Heiniger Xplorer/E clipper boasts several key technical specifications that contribute to its performance and usability:
- Handle Diameter: Ø 54 mm, providing a comfortable grip for extended use.
- Length: 280 mm, a compact size for maneuverability.
- Weight with Battery: 1.02 kg, making it relatively lightweight and reducing operator fatigue.
- Motor Output: Refer to the specifications plate on the machine for exact details.
- Rotary Speed: Refer to the specifications plate on the machine for exact details.
- Noise Emission: 65 dB (A) (EN 60745-1:2009), indicating a moderate noise level, with a recommended uncertainty K of 3 dB (A).
- Battery Type: Li-Ion, known for its high energy density and long cycle life.
- Battery Voltage: 10.8 V.
- Battery Capacity: Refer to the specifications plate on the battery for exact details.
- Operating Conditions:
- Ambient Temperature Range: 0 - 40 °C, allowing for use in various climates.
- Maximum Relative Humidity: 75%, ensuring reliable operation in moderately humid environments.
The charging station and power supply unit also have specific electrical specifications (voltage, max. current consumption, frequency) which are detailed on their respective specifications plates. These ensure compatibility and safe charging of the Li-Ion battery.
Usage Features
The Heiniger Xplorer/E clipper is designed for straightforward and safe operation, incorporating several user-friendly features:
- Battery Charging: The device uses a removable Li-Ion battery. To charge, press both sides of the battery latch (1) to remove the battery, then insert it into the charging bay of the charging station (1). The charging process is indicated by a running light sequence of LEDs. Once fully charged, the charger switches to "trickle charging." The charged battery is then pushed back into the clipper until the latch engages.
- Charger Status Display: The charging station features LEDs that indicate four charging statuses: LED switched off, LED lights up red, and LED lights up green. These lights show whether the power supply unit is connected, the battery is normally charging (with different indications for 0%, 30%, 75%, and 90% charge), is deeply discharged (blinking red and green), or is defective (top LED flashes red).
- Adjusting Clipping Pressure: Before starting to clip, the pressure can be adjusted. Turn the adjusting knob (1) in the direction of the arrow until resistance is felt, then turn it another 1/4 turn. After each new adjustment, check the cutting power on the animal. If clipping quality deteriorates, increase pressure by another 1/4 turn. If this doesn't improve, blades need replacement or sharpening.
- Switching On/Off: The clipper is switched on by sliding the ON/OFF switch (6) to position "I" and switched off by sliding it to position "0".
- Using the Clipper: Approach the animal from the front, secure and calm it. Switch the clipper on within the animal's visual range and observe its behavior during clipping. Switch off the clipper after use.
- Replacing Clipping Blades: To replace blades, switch off the clipper (position "0"), turn the adjusting knob (4) until resistance decreases, and place the clipper with comb plate screws facing upwards. Loosen the comb plate screws and remove the old blades. When installing new or sharpened blades, ensure correct alignment. Place the new upper blade on the guiding tips of the pivot lever and apply a few drops of oil to its polished surfaces. Install the new lower blade, aligning its ground surface to protrude approximately 1.5 - 2 mm above the upper blade's tips, then tighten the comb plate screws.
Maintenance Features
Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the Heiniger Xplorer/E clipper.
- Lubrication: A thin layer of oil between the upper and lower blades is essential for good clipping results and extended clipper life. All other moving parts of the clipper head also require lubrication. Apply several drops of oil onto the clipping blades and into the lubrication opening (3). It is recommended to oil the blades adequately during clipping, at least every 15 minutes, to prevent them from running dry. Only use the supplied special oil or a paraffin oil conforming to ISO VG 15 specification. Oil the blades before, during, and after every use, and replace damaged blades immediately.
- Cleaning: The clipper should only be cleaned with a dry cloth and the provided brush. Compressed air should never be used. Clean the clipper's housing with a dry cloth. For the clipping blades, clipper head, and charging station, disconnect the charger from the power supply, use the supplied brush to clean them, and lubricate the blades as described. Remove any hair from the charging bay and clean contacts with a dry cloth if necessary.
- Storage: Store the clipper and accessories indoors, in a dry, dust-free place, protected from direct sunlight and mechanical shocks. The storage temperature should be between 0 and 40 °C. For storage longer than 3 months, periodically check the general condition of all parts. When not in use, store the clipper in its case, ensuring it is clean, lubricated, and with the clipping elements not spring-loaded to prevent corrosion.
These features ensure that the Heiniger Xplorer/E is not only effective in its primary function but also easy to maintain and durable over time.
