Usage Features
The mower offers several features designed for user convenience and effective lawn care:
- Cordless Operation: Powered by a 40V Lithium-ion battery, providing freedom of movement without the restriction of a power cord.
- Adjustable Cutting Height: Five different cutting height settings (1-1/5" to 3") allow users to customize the grass length according to their preference and grass condition. This is adjusted via a spring-loaded cutting-height adjustment lever.
- Foldable Handle: The handle can be folded into three positions: Locked Storage Position, Grass Bag Attachment/Removal Position, and Operating Position. This feature facilitates compact storage and easy transport.
- Safety Button and Bail Switch: A safety button must be pressed down before the motor can be started, and the bail switch must be held to maintain operation. Releasing the bail switch quickly stops blade rotation for safety.
- Handle-Locking Clamp: Locks/unlocks the side rails in the extended or recessed position, allowing for adjustment of the handle's angle.
- Side Rails: Can be extended and locked for operation or recessed for storage.
- Trailing Shield & Rear Discharge Door: Designed to minimize stones or other objects being thrown backward by the mower blade. The shield and rear door minimize the possibility of accidental foot contact with the blade. Users are advised not to operate the mower without the trailing shield and rear door in place.
- LED Headlights: Located on the front of the battery compartment, these headlights provide bright light for increased visibility, especially useful in low-light conditions.
- Battery-Pack Cove: Protects the battery pack.
- Dual Battery Port: Allows for the use of two batteries, potentially extending run time (though the manual doesn't explicitly state simultaneous use, it implies the capability).
- Mulching Insert: An optional accessory (available separately) that allows the mower to mulch grass clippings, returning nutrients to the lawn.
- Grass Bag: A 60L capacity grass bag for collecting clippings.
- Quick-Adjust Lever: Locks/unlocks the handle position, offering three positions: Locked Storage Position, Grass Bag Attachment/Removal Position, and Operating Position.
- Starting/Stopping the Mower: Involves attaching the battery pack, depressing the safety button, pulling the bail switch upward, and then releasing the safety button. To stop, simply release the bail switch.
- Mower Overload Protection: The mower is equipped with an overload protection system. If the motor is overloaded, it will stop, and the power indicator on the mower will flash red. Users should remove the battery pack, check for grass buildup, and restart.
- Battery High Temperature Protection: The battery pack will generate heat during operation. If the battery temperature exceeds 70°C, the protection circuit will immediately turn off the motor. Users should remove the battery pack, allow it to cool, and then restart.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the mower.
- Cleaning the Mower: The underside of the mower deck should be cleaned after each use to remove grass clippings, leaves, dirt, and other debris, which can accumulate and cause rust and corrosion. Always remove the battery pack when servicing or transporting the mower.
- Removing and Installing the Blade: The manual provides detailed instructions for removing and installing the blade, including the necessary tools (16mm wrench, torque wrench, manual screwdriver or metal rod with a diameter of 5/16"). It emphasizes wearing heavy gloves or wrapping the cutting edges with rags or other materials when performing this task.
- Sharpening the Blade: Instructions are provided for sharpening the blade using a vise and a fine tooth file or sharpening stone. The blade should be balanced after sharpening. An unbalanced blade can cause severe injury.
- Lubrication: Periodically lubricate the spring and pivot pin in the quick-adjust lever, the torsion spring, and the pivot of the rear-discharge door with light oil to prevent rust. Lubricate the bearings in both the rear and front wheels.
- Replacing the Wheels: Instructions are provided for replacing the wheels, including removing the dust cover, prying off the dust cover with a flat-edged screwdriver, and installing new wheels.
- Storing the Mower: The mower should be stored in a dry, clean location, away from corrosive materials, fertilizer, or rock salt. It should be stored in a covered, enclosed space, cool, and dry, out of reach of children. Plastic coverings can trap moisture, causing rust and corrosion. The handle assembly can be folded away for compact storage.
- Battery Pack Care: Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. Store battery packs in a cool, dry place, away from other metal objects. Do not store battery packs in areas where they may be present.
- Service and Repair: For any service or repair, contact HENX Customer Service. Only identical replacement parts should be used. Users are warned against attempting to modify the tool or use accessories not recommended by the manufacturer.
- Troubleshooting Guide: A comprehensive troubleshooting section helps identify and resolve common issues such as the mower failing to start, uneven cuts, or excessive vibration.
