Do you have a question about the HiFiMAN TWS 500 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The HIFIMAN TWS 500 are true wireless earbuds designed for an immersive listening experience, featuring noise cancellation and a range of convenient controls for music, calls, and mode switching. These earbuds are accompanied by a charging case that not only protects them but also provides additional battery life, ensuring they are ready for use whenever you need them.

Function Description

The TWS 500 earbuds are engineered to provide high-quality audio with the added benefit of active noise cancellation (ANC) and a transparency mode, allowing users to choose between blocking out ambient sound or staying aware of their surroundings. They operate wirelessly via Bluetooth, connecting seamlessly to your source device. The earbuds automatically power on when removed from their charging case and power off and begin recharging when returned. They also feature an indicator light for status updates.

Usage Features

Power On/Off:

The earbuds automatically power on when taken out of the charging case. When placed back into the case, they will power off and start recharging. If the earbuds are out of the case and off, you can manually power them on by pressing and holding both the left (L) and right (R) earbuds for 3 seconds. A "power on" prompt sound and a flashing white LED light will confirm activation.

Pairing:

To pair the TWS 500 with a source device, simply remove the earbuds from the charging case. They will automatically enter pairing mode, indicated by a flashing white LED light. You have a 3-minute window to connect the earbuds to your device. If no connection is established within this time, the earbuds will exit pairing mode and power off. To re-enter pairing mode, return the earbuds to the charging case and then remove them again. Once in pairing mode, open the Bluetooth menu on your device and select "HIFIMAN-TWS500." A "Connected" prompt will confirm successful pairing.

Single-Sided Mode:

The TWS 500 offers flexible listening options, allowing you to use either the left or right earbud independently.

  • Using the Left Earbud Only: Leave the right earbud in the charging case and remove only the left earbud. It will automatically enter single-sided mode. To switch back to stereo, simply remove the right earbud from the charging case.
  • Using the Right Earbud Only: Similarly, leave the left earbud in the charging case and remove only the right earbud. It will automatically enter single-sided mode. To return to stereo, remove the left earbud from the charging case.

Music Controls:

  • Pause/Play: To pause a track, touch the right earbud twice. To resume playback, touch the right earbud twice again.

Call Controls:

Calls can be initiated and answered using either earbud.

  • Answer Call: Touch either earbud twice to answer an incoming call. A "beep" prompt tone will confirm the action.
  • Reject Call: To reject a call, press and hold either earbud for approximately 2 seconds. A "beep" prompt tone will indicate the call has been rejected.
  • End Call: To end an active call, touch either earbud twice. A "beep" prompt tone will confirm the call has ended.

Voice Assistant Activation:

  • Standby/Music Mode: Double-touch the left earbud (L) to activate your device's voice assistant. Repeat the double-touch gesture to turn off the voice assistant. (Note: Your device must support the voice assistant function for this feature to work.)

Mode Switching:

The TWS 500 offers various modes to enhance your listening experience.

  • Noise Cancellation Mode/Transparency Mode:
    • Activate Noise Cancellation: Perform a "long touch" (press and hold) on either earbud for 2 seconds. You will hear an "ANC On" prompt tone, indicating that noise cancellation is active.
    • Activate Transparency Mode: After activating noise cancellation, perform another "long touch" on either earbud. The earbuds will switch to Transparency Mode, confirmed by a "Transparency Mode" prompt tone. This allows you to hear your surroundings more clearly.
    • Cycle Modes: Repeat the "long touch" operation to cycle between Noise Cancellation Mode and Transparency Mode.
  • Gaming Mode:
    • Enter Gaming Mode: In standby or music mode, touch either earbud four times. A "Game Mode" prompt will confirm entry into this low-latency mode, optimized for gaming.
    • Exit Gaming Mode: To return to music mode, touch either earbud four times again. A "Music Mode" prompt will indicate the switch.
  • Turn Off Noise Cancellation:
    • To completely end noise cancellation mode, touch either earbud three times. A "Normal Mode" prompt will confirm that noise cancellation is off.

Maintenance Features

Charging the Earbuds:

To charge the earbuds, simply place them back into their charging case and close the lid. A white LED light on the earbuds will illuminate to indicate that they are charging.

Charging the Charging Case:

Connect the charging cable to the charger port on the charging case. While the case is charging, the indicator light will flash. Once the charging case is fully charged, the indicator light will turn solid.

Checking Charging Case Battery Level:

To check if the charging case needs to be charged, press the round button on the case once. If charging is required, the LED light will flash four times. If the LED light remains on, it signifies that the charging case is fully charged.
