The Hillyard Trident CC17XP is a versatile and robust cleaning unit designed for efficient application of cleaning solutions and rinsing. This portable machine is built for professional use, offering a combination of power, convenience, and ease of maintenance.
Function Description:
The CC17XP serves as a mobile dispensing system for cleaning chemicals and water. Its primary function is to apply cleaning solutions at low pressure and then rinse surfaces with high-pressure water. This dual-action capability makes it suitable for a wide range of cleaning tasks, from routine maintenance to more intensive applications. The unit features a specialized spray gun, the CC17, which allows for seamless switching between soap and water dispensing. When the trigger is pulled and the gun is tilted to the left, it dispenses soap from the right nozzle tip at low pressure (#10 tip). To switch to water, the user releases the trigger, tilts the gun to the right, and pulls the trigger again, dispensing high-pressure rinse water from the left nozzle tip (#3.5 tip). This intuitive design ensures efficient and targeted application, reducing waste and improving cleaning effectiveness. The pump operates only when the trigger is pulled and stops immediately upon release, conserving battery life and preventing unnecessary operation.

Usage Features:
The CC17XP is designed for user-friendly operation and setup.
- Initial Setup: The battery comes pre-installed and charged but requires connection to the pump. This involves removing two bolts from the chassis door to access the battery and pump. Wires with spade terminals (black to black, red to red) connect the battery to the pump. The spray gun attaches to the operator hose via a quick-release mechanism. The unit includes options for shelving and a waste basket, allowing users to choose their preferred configuration.
- Filling the Water Tank: The 17-gallon fresh water tank is accessed by turning and removing a black cap counter-clockwise. It should be filled with cold tap water.
- Connecting Chemical Bottles: Chemical bottles are prepared by removing their shipping caps and sliding them into molded openings with the spout facing outward. The chemical feed line, with its threaded cap, then attaches to the bottle.
- Initial Priming: Before first use, the unit requires priming. The chemical selector should be set to the desired product, and the power switch turned "on." The pump will briefly engage and stop due to an internal pressure switch. To establish a steady spray pattern, the nozzle should be tilted left, aimed at a drain or container, and the trigger pulled until chemical draws through the injector lines. Releasing the trigger should stop the pump immediately; if not, operate longer to ensure full priming. This process should be repeated for all chemical products.
- Normal Operation: The pump runs only when the trigger is pulled. The CC17 gun allows for easy switching between soap and water. To dispense soap, release the trigger, tilt the gun left, and squeeze. To dispense water, release the trigger, tilt the gun right, and squeeze. Before storing, it's crucial to purge chemical lines by running fresh water through the gun for one to two minutes.
- Charging: The integral charger recharges a fully discharged battery overnight (10-12 hours). The power cord, located at the lower rear of the machine, plugs into a wall outlet. The battery charge indicator on the dashboard shows a half circle when fully charged. Keeping the unit plugged in when not in use is recommended to extend battery life, as it cannot be overcharged.
Maintenance Features:
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the CC17XP.
- Daily Maintenance:
- Purging Lines: After each use, run one to two gallons of fresh water through the unit to purge residual chemical from the lines and gun.
- Relieving Pressure: Turn the power switch to the "off" position, then pull the trigger on the application gun to relieve pressure in the discharge hose.
- Visual Inspection: Check the unit for any visible damage or leaks.
- Charging: Charge the unit when not in use.
- Freeze Protection: If storing in freezing temperatures, drain the water reservoir and run the pump until all water is purged from the system. Allow the unit to thaw completely before engaging the pump again.
- Periodic Maintenance:
- Spray Tip Cleaning: Soak both spray tips in Hillyard Extra Strength CSP to minimize blockages and prevent excessive pump cycling.
- Filter Cleaning: Remove and clean the in-line bowl filter located on the underside of the machine. If water is in the reservoir, it will drain out when the filter is removed.
