What to do if Hirth Engine has no spark on one set of ignition?
    • M
      Morgan FarleyAug 5, 2025
If your Hirth Engine has no spark on one set of ignition, start by checking for a bad connection, broken, or disconnected wires. You can also try the spark plugs that do work. Try exchanging the ignition wires that originate from the ignition module at the point of the coils, or where they exit the engine and attach to the ignition coils. If the same coil remains dead, the coil is likely defective. If the coil that was not firing before is now active, the problem might be in the CDI module or stator plate, so repair or replace the defective part. If the same side of ignition remains dead, the CDI box might be bad. If the opposite side of ignition that was not firing before is now active, the stator plate might be the problem; repair or replace it as needed.

Why is my Hirth Engine running too cold?
    • H
      Harold BautistaAug 12, 2025
Your Hirth Engine might be running too cold due to: * Too much fuel (rich condition) caused by improper jetting. * The jet needle being improperly set to rich. * A stuck float in the open position. * The enricher circuit (choke) being partially activated. * Improper assembly of the carburetor slide mechanism.

What to do if Hirth Engine has heating problem with CHT & EGT hot on both cylinders?

      Andrew DennisAug 21, 2025
If your Hirth Engine experiences a heating problem with both CHT and EGT running hot, it could be due to a lean situation affecting both cylinders. This can be caused by a leak in the pulse line between the crankcase and fuel pump, a clogged fuel filter, a pinhole leak in the fuel line, a defective fuel pump, or a crankcase seal leak. It may also be necessary to adjust the carb jets or change them for larger ones. A change in climatic conditions, such as a cooler outside air temperature, may also require more fuel for the engine to run properly.

What to do if Hirth Engine has a heating problem with CHT & EGT hot on one cylinder?

If your Hirth Engine has a heating problem with CHT and EGT hot on one cylinder, it could be due to a lean situation. Start by checking that both carbs are synchronized. Also, check for leaks in the intake system around the cylinder base, cylinder head, exhaust manifold, carb enricher, or cracks in the rubber carb flange. Examine the fuel system for leaks to that cylinder. Check for other differences in carb functions and, if possible, exchange carbs without disconnecting the throttle and choke cables to see if the problem follows the carb or stays with the same cylinder. If the same indicator goes high then the problem is in the instrument or EGT sensor and engine is fine. If the carbs are interchanged, and the same cylinder stays hot, the problem is with the engine, not the carb; check a...
