Overview

This document serves as a Quick Setup Guide for the Hisense Laser TV, model ES-G2007X3-1, providing essential information for its safe and optimal operation. The Laser TV is designed for rendering video and audio signals in a home or office environment, projecting a large, high-resolution image onto a screen. It is a Class I product, requiring a protective earthing connection.

Function Description

The Hisense Laser TV is a sophisticated display device that projects images onto a screen, offering a large-format viewing experience. It features multiple input options including HDMI, USB, VGA, and AV, allowing connection to various external devices such as computers, DVD players, set-top boxes, video cameras, and audio amplifiers. For network connectivity, the device supports both wired (LAN) and wireless (Wi-Fi) setups, enabling access to online content and smart features. The Laser TV incorporates a laser module for image projection, delivering a bright and vibrant display. It also includes an eye protection sensor and a power button for direct control. The remote control, which can be paired with the TV, provides comprehensive control over functions like power, input selection, volume, channel changes, menu navigation, and quick access to specific apps like Netflix and YouTube. The device supports various video and audio signal formats, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of media.

Usage Features

Installation and Setup: The initial setup involves mounting the screen (refer to a separate screen installation guide) and then positioning the Laser TV. It is strongly recommended that two people handle the device when moving it to protect the lens. Before positioning, all necessary cables (audio, video, Ethernet, and external devices) should be connected to the ports on the back of the Laser TV, ensuring secure connections to maintain picture quality. The Laser TV should be positioned parallel to the screen surface, with a recommended distance of 8 1/8 inches from its back panel to the wall. After plugging in the power cord and removing the lens cover, the device can be turned on using the POWER button.

Image Adjustment: The guide provides detailed steps for adjusting the projected image to fit the screen. This includes:

  • Parallel Alignment: If the bottom of the image is uneven, rotate the device counterclockwise or clockwise to make it parallel with the screen.
  • Horizontal Shift: If the image shifts to one side, move the Laser TV left or right accordingly.
  • Width Adjustment: If the image is wider or narrower than the screen, move the Laser TV closer or farther from the screen.
  • Corner Adjustment: Specific instructions are given for adjusting the upper-right and upper-left corners using a wrench to rotate the front and back feet of the TV, ensuring the image is parallel with the screen.
  • Filling the Screen: Adjustments are provided for when the top of the image is wider or narrower than the screen, involving rotating the front or back feet of the Laser TV and moving the projector closer or farther.

Network Connection: The Laser TV supports both wired and wireless network connections. For a wired setup, connect the LAN port on the back of the TV to an external modem or router using an Ethernet/Cat 5 cable. For wireless setup, a wireless router or modem is required. The TV has a built-in Wireless LAN Adapter and supports DHCP for easier connection. It is compatible with WPA, WEP, and WPA2 security systems. For optimal performance, the distance between the router and TV should be less than 10 meters.

Remote Control: The remote control provides comprehensive functionality. It requires two AAA batteries, inserted by pressing a switch to pop out the battery case. The remote operates within a range of up to 26 feet and at a 30-degree horizontal or vertical angle (in an unpaired state). Pairing the remote to the TV is done by pressing and holding the pairing button for at least 3 seconds while within 20 feet of the TV. The remote allows control over power, input selection, volume, channel changes, menu navigation, and quick access to specific apps.

Smart Features and Settings: The TV Setup menu allows configuration of additional settings, including language, TV mode (Home or Store), wireless network connection, country, and time zone. The "Enhance Viewing" feature automatically adjusts picture and sound modes based on recognized content. The "VIDAA Account Setup Screen" allows linking the TV with a VIDAA account. The End User License Agreement must be accepted to enable all smart features, with options to turn individual features on/off and consent to privacy notices/terms.

Maintenance Features

General Care:

  • Handling: Always handle the device with care, especially the lens. It is recommended that two people move the Laser TV.
  • Cleaning: Unplug the power cord before cleaning. Use a soft, moist, clean, and color-natural cloth for cleaning the device, screen, and remote control. Avoid using chemicals, insect repellent, solvent, thinner, or other volatile substances, as these can degrade the surface quality. Do not spray water or other liquids directly on the device, as liquid ingress can cause product failure.
  • Lens Care: The display panel surface is delicate and can be easily damaged. Avoid touching the lens with bare hands or ordinary cleaning cloths. Use a dust blower to remove dust. For grease, dirt, or fingerprints, professional cleaning solutions, optical cleaning cloths, or lens wiping paper should be used to prevent damage to the optical film and maintain image quality. Clean the lens periodically, ensuring the TV is turned off beforehand.
  • Power Plug: Wipe the power plug with a dry cloth regularly.

Safety Precautions:

  • Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation by installing the device with at least 20 cm free space on the sides and 10 cm free space on the back. Do not block ventilation openings with objects like newspapers, tablecloths, or curtains. Avoid drying clothing on top of the unit. Insufficient ventilation can lead to overheating and damage.
  • Temperature and Humidity: Do not expose the unit to rain, moisture, dripping, or splashing water. Avoid touching the device with wet hands. Do not expose it to direct air-conditioning. Keep candles or other naked flames away. If moved from a cold to a hot environment, allow at least an hour for condensation to evaporate before switching on.
  • Power Supply: Connect to a power supply with the correct voltage and frequency as noted on the type plate. The power plug must be easily accessible for disconnection. Do not overload power outlets. After power off, wait 5 seconds before turning it on again to prevent abnormal device behavior.
  • Power Cable: Do not touch the power plug with wet hands. Do not place heavy objects on the power cable. Route the cable to avoid kinks, sharp edges, being walked on, or exposure to chemicals. Pull the power plug, not the cable, when disconnecting. Do not place the power cable near high-temperature objects or move the device with the power cable plugged in. Use only the supplied power cord.
  • Laser Safety: Do not look directly at the lens when the device is on, as laser light can damage eyes. The product contains a Class 2 laser module (Peak Power < 66.7mW, Wavelength 450nm-460nm, Angle of Divergence 49°, IEC/EN 60825-1: 2014). Do not tear down or modify the device, as this can result in personal injury. If repair is needed, wear laser eye protection with an optical density OD of 4 or higher and a wavelength of 445-465nm.
  • Foreign Objects: Do not insert foreign objects into the device through vents or ports. Avoid placing water-containing vessels (e.g., cosmetics, liquid medicine) or exposed fire sources (e.g., burning candles) on the device.
  • Children: Do not let children play unsupervised near the device or stand/climb on it.
  • Batteries: Discard batteries in a designated disposal area; do not throw them into fire. Remove old batteries immediately to prevent leakage. Remove batteries if the remote control will not be used for a long time. Clean the battery compartment with a cloth if chemicals leak. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types (alkaline, carbon-zinc, rechargeable). Do not burn or break up batteries. Dispose of batteries correctly and do not expose them to excessive heat.

Troubleshooting: The guide includes a quick problem-solving section for common issues such as no sound/picture, distorted picture, or remote control malfunction. Basic steps involve checking power connections, input selections, volume settings, and remote control batteries. For persistent issues, contacting support is advised.

Disposal: The device and its components, including batteries, should be disposed of responsibly. The symbol on the product or packaging indicates that it should not be disposed of with household waste but handed over to a designated collection point for recycling electrical and electronic equipment.
