Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive guide for the Hitachi vacuum cleaner, emphasizing safety, operation, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the appliance.

Function Description

The Hitachi vacuum cleaner is designed for household use, specifically for vacuuming dirt and dust particles. It is not intended for industrial or commercial purposes, and its use in such settings will void the warranty. The appliance features an electric turbo brush that automatically detects floor types, adjusting operation accordingly. It can be used as a full-size vacuum with a foldable tube for hard-to-reach areas or as a hand-held unit with various accessories for different cleaning needs. The vacuum cleaner is equipped with an LCD display that provides real-time information on battery charge, remaining operating period, and speed level. It also features warning screens for filter blockage, brush blockage, and suction path blockage, prompting the user for necessary maintenance.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the vacuum cleaner's performance and longevity:

  • Dust Container (11) Cleaning: Recommended after each operation. The dust container can be opened by pressing the lid release button (12) and detached from the body (10) for thorough cleaning.
  • Metal Filter and Inlet Foam Cleaning: These components should be cleaned regularly, ideally once a month, by tapping off dust or washing under cold running water. Warm water should be avoided as it can deteriorate the filter structure. After washing, the inlet foam requires 24 to 48 hours to air dry completely before reinstallation.
  • EPA E12 Filter and Outlet Foam Cleaning: The outlet foam should be inspected and cleaned regularly by washing under cold water and air-drying. The EPA E12 filter should be cleaned regularly by tapping off dust but not washed with water. Filters may need replacement over time due to deformation from usage; new filters can be purchased from customer services.
  • Brush Cleaning (5.4 Cleaning of the brush): The electric turbo brush (8) and main roll brush should be cleaned regularly to remove tangled hair or other materials. The main roll brush can be removed by pressing the release tab and rotating the roll cover. Neither the turbo brush nor the main roll brush should be washed.
  • Blockage Removal (5.5 Removal of the blockages): If a suction path blockage warning appears, the brush (8) and tube (6) should be detached from the body (10) to inspect and remove any foreign materials from the connection points, foldable tube, and vacuum path of the appliance body.
  • Battery Storage: For long-term storage, the battery should be removed, kept in a cool, dry place at half charge, and stored on a non-conducting material to prevent contact with metal.
  • General Cleaning: The appliance body can be wiped with a wet cloth. Benzene, solvents, abrasive cleaners, metal objects, or hard brushes should not be used for cleaning.

Safety Precautions

The manual highlights several critical safety precautions:

  • General Safety: Do not repair or modify any part of the vacuum cleaner. Contact authorized service agents for repairs. Keep the vacuum cleaner and AC adapter away from water and liquids. Avoid connecting terminals with metal objects. Do not throw into fires or apply heat. Do not charge, use, or leave near heat sources or direct sunlight.
  • Outlet, Plug, Cord, and AC Adapter: Use a 100-240V outlet. Avoid extension cords and multipoint connectors. Clean the plug regularly. Insert the plug fully. Do not damage or modify the cord. Do not use if the cord or AC adapter is damaged. Do not handle the plug with wet hands. Use only the provided AC adapter for charging.
  • Power Head (Inlet): Do not touch the rotary brush, especially around children. Do not place the power head on body parts when pulling it. Do not let the vacuum cleaner run with the inlet blocked for extended periods. Remove the power head before maintenance. Do not attach parts to other objects. Avoid moving the power head left and right while facing forward on floors or fabrics. Do not use attachments with foreign objects stuck in them. Do not use under or between blankets.
  • Battery (Lithium-ion Battery): Do not connect the battery to anything other than this vacuum cleaner. Do not disassemble, modify, or solder the battery. Do not charge the battery when not connected to the vacuum cleaner. Battery replacement should be performed by a trained service technician. Do not touch terminals with metal items. Do not store with metal objects. Avoid strong physical shock to the battery. Keep away from fire. Use only the specified battery. Do not put in a microwave or oven. Do not submerge in water or other liquids. If battery liquid gets in eyes, wash immediately and consult a doctor. If liquid gets on clothes or skin, wash immediately and consult a doctor. Do not use if leaking or abnormal. Keep away from infants and children. Unplug the adapter and remove the battery pack before cleaning or maintenance. Disconnect from power supply before removing the battery for disposal. Dispose of used batteries according to local laws.
  • Children Safety: Children should be supervised and instructed on safe use. Only children aged 8 and above should use the AC adapter with supervision. Do not allow children to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be carried out by children without supervision.
  • Prohibited Materials: Do not vacuum inflammable or combustible items (kerosene, gasoline, paint thinner, benzine, toner, iron powder, detergents, large amounts of flour, aerosol sprays, flammable gas, cigarette butts). Do not vacuum sharp objects (thumbtacks, needles, toothpicks, hairpins). Do not vacuum suds or foam. Do not use outdoors. Do not wash parts not listed as washable. Do not charge or store in high humidity.
  • Exhaust Port: Do not block the exhaust port. Do not expose the body to the air released from the exhaust port for long periods. Do not use without filters.
  • Storage: Do not lean the vacuum cleaner against a wall or other surface. Ensure the power head is attached when using the stand.
