TOWING cont.
Chapter 9
TOW AND LOAD
9-8
Fitting accessories (bull bars, driving lights, insect screens, etc.)
When tting accessories, take care not to restrict airow through the air conditioner
condenser and the radiator, otherwise engine overheating and/or poor air conditioning
performance may result.
The mass of all accessories must be considered when evaluating the vehicle’s overall
loaded condition.
Remember that bull bars may affect airbag operation. Refer to Supplemental restraint
system in chapter 3 for details.
Running in before towing
Holden recommends that you drive your new vehicle for at least 1,500 km before
towing. If you must tow in the rst 1,500 km of the vehicle’s life, do not exceed
80 km/h.
The same applies if the vehicle is equipped with a new or reconditioned engine,
transmission or axle.
Off road loading and towing
Driving the vehicle off-road may induce higher loads than normal on-road driving.
To reduce the risk of damage to your vehicle (and trailer) and improve safety when
operating off-road, reduce the vehicle speed and minimise the load being carried
(or towed).
Vehicle maintenance
More frequent vehicle maintenance is required when using the vehicle for towing.
Refer to the Service/warranty booklet in the vehicle’s glovebox.
