Chapter 2
LOCKS
ALARM
Arming and disarming
When the e button on the key is pressed or when the vehicle is locked using the
key in the driver’s door lock, the alarm is armed automatically (after a short delay of
approximately
30 seconds). The security warning lamp o will begin ashing on the
instrument panel.
The alarm system is disarmed automatically when the
c button on the key is pressed.
While the alarm system is armed, the boot can still be opened without activating the
alarm by pressing the
s button on the key. Pressing the button will disarm the alarm
system for the boot only. Closing the boot will rearm the alarm system for the boot after
a short delay.
Note If any door is unlocked without pressing the
c button on the key, while the alarm
system is armed, opening any door will activate the alarm.
When activated
While the alarm is armed, it will be activated if any of the doors, boot or bonnet are
opened. The alarm will also be activated, if the battery is disconnected in any way or
a hot wiring has been attempted. If activated, the alarm sounds and the turn signals
ash.
To deactivate the alarm, perform one of the following:
•
Press the
c button on the key.
• Switch on the ignition.
• Allow the alarm to time out after about 30 seconds and reset itself, to guard against
further break-in attempts.
Break-in
If the c button on the key is pressed and the horn chirps, an attempted break-in has
occurred while the alarm system was armed.
If the alarm has been activated, the Alarm
Activated animation appears in the centre display
for about one second followed by an animation
showing which trigger point has activated the
alarm. If there is more than one trigger point, an
animation for each of them will follow.
Each animation will be displayed for about
one second before the display returns to the
Alarm Activated animation. The animations
are shown in a continuous cycle until the TRIP
button is pressed. It then reverts to the original
trip computer display.
