Overview

This document describes the home® Ultrasonic Humidifier (SKU# HME020005N), a cool and warm mist humidifier designed for household use.

Function Description

The humidifier utilizes a metal diaphragm to vibrate at an ultrasonic frequency, creating water droplets that silently exit the humidifier in the form of a cool mist. It also offers a warm mist option through PTC heating elements. Its primary function is to add humidity to the air, which can be beneficial in dry environments. The device includes an automatic water supply function to maintain optimal water levels. Additionally, it features a fragrance box, allowing users to diffuse essential oils and scent the air.

Important Technical Specifications

  • SKU#: HME020005N
  • PART#: HME020005MNL
  • Rating: 120 V, 60 Hz, 95 WATTS, AC ONLY
  • Mist Control Modes:
    • HI Mode: 100% PWM Modulation Degree, 0.35 L/hour (11.8 oz) humidity level.
    • LO Mode: 60% PWM Modulation Degree, 0.21 L/hour (6.7 oz) humidity level.
  • Water Temperature: Designed to operate with clean tap water or distilled filtered water between 40°F (5°C) and 80°F (40°C). Pouring water over 100°F (40°C) into the tank may alter its color or shape.
  • Low Water Level Protection: The humidifier detects low water levels and enters a protection mode, turning off the fan, transducer, and PTC, and activating the automatic water supply function. If water is not refilled, it will eventually go into standby mode.
  • Automatic Water Supply Function: An AC solenoid valve automatically adds water to the tank when the water level drops below the minimum limit and stops when the maximum level is reached.

Usage Features

The humidifier is controlled via a touch panel with several intuitive icons.

  • ON/OFF: A single touch turns the humidifier on or off. When turned on, it defaults to continuous humidity, timer off, DC fan on, cool mist on, and HI humidifying level.
  • HI/LO Mode Setting: Allows users to switch between HI and LO mist output levels, adjusting the humidity intensity. The device starts in HI mode automatically.
  • Cool and Warm Mist: The humidifier starts in cool mist mode. Pressing the cool/warm mist icon switches to warm mist, activating the PTC heating elements. Pressing it again returns to cool mist. Note that heating a large amount of water for warm mist may require multiple presses.
  • Timer (1h - 8h): Users can set an operating timer for 1, 4, or 8 hours. The LED display shows the remaining time. Additional time can be added by pressing the timer icon, up to a maximum of 8 hours.
  • Sleep Mode: Activates a silent operation mode where all LED lights turn off, and the humidifier continues working in LO mode. The buzzer is silenced for low water level warnings in this mode. All other functions remain as selected prior to sleep mode, but icons cannot be used except ON/OFF and sleep mode. Pressing the sleep mode icon again exits this mode.
  • Fragrance Box: Located on the top of the humidifier, this feature allows for the diffusion of essential oils. Users can detach the diffuser, remove the fragrance sponge, add a few drops of essential oil, place the sponge back, and then reattach the diffuser.
  • Water Tank Installation: The top removable water tank is designed for easy installation and uninstallation. It is important to note that the water tank is not attached to the bottom body, so the humidifier should be carried from the bottom using both hands to prevent damage.
  • Adding Water: Water should be added from the bottom of the tank. The tank is turned upside down, the cover is unscrewed, and clean tap or distilled water (within 40°F to 80°F) is filled up to the stated line. After screwing the cover back on and drying any external water, the tank is placed back onto the humidifier. Gurgling sounds and air bubbles indicate proper placement and water flow.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of the humidifier.

  • General Cleaning: Unplug the humidifier before any washing or cleaning.
  • Water Tank Cleaning: The water tank should be washed with mild, soaped water every two weeks. To clean, remove the tank, drain remaining water, add one-third of recommended water, shake, and pour out. A brush or cloth can be used for thorough cleaning.
  • Surface Cleaning: Wipe the body surface with a water-dampened cloth. Avoid pouring water directly onto the humidifier's main body.
  • Water Channel Cleaning: Remove the water tank. If dirt is present in the gutter, use the provided brush to remove it, then rinse the gutter with water. This should be done every time the water tank is refilled for optimal performance.
  • Transducer (Circular Disk) Cleaning: Clean the transducer, tank, and main body weekly. The transducer should be cleaned with a wet cloth, and hard objects should not touch it. Filtered water is recommended for best results.
  • Water Replacement: Replace water in the humidifier frequently.
  • Storage: If the humidifier is unused for a long period, ensure the tank and gutter are dry before storage.
  • Water Drainage: When pouring water out of the water trough, unscrew it from the bottom of the main body (the outlet) to allow water to flow out.
  • Freezing Prevention: Drain water from the gutter and tank when room temperature is under 32°F (0°C) to prevent water from freezing and damaging the humidifier.
  • Chemical Avoidance: Do not spray harsh chemicals or cleaning mixtures into the humidifier, as they may cause damage. Use filtered water for cleaning instead.
  • Internal Components: Avoid splashing water into the inner or spare parts of the humidifier during washing. Do not disassemble the humidifier. Do not put metal, chemical, or cleaning mixtures into the gutter.
