      Cody CarrollJul 31, 2025
Oil leaks around the cylinder ram or from other points can occur for several reasons. Air might be sealed in the hydraulic system during operation; loosen the bleed screw by 3-4 rotations before operating the log splitter. Ensure the bleed screw is tightened before moving the log splitter. Also, check that the oil drain bolt is tight. If the hydraulic control valve assembly and/ or seal(s) are worn, contact the dealer.

Why won't my Homelite UT49103 Log Splitter split logs?
    • L
      Lucas ColeAug 21, 2025
Your Homelite Log Splitter might not split logs for several reasons. It could be due to improperly positioned log. Refer to the Operation section for log loading. The log's size or hardness might exceed the machine’s capacity, in which case you should reduce the log size before splitting. The wedge cutting edge could be blunt, requiring you to refer to the Sharpening Wedge in the Maintenance section. Also, check for oil leaks. If an unauthorized adjustment was made on the Maximum Pressure Limiting Screw or a lower maximum pressure rating was set, contact the dealer.

    • S
      sdunnAug 26, 2025
If your Homelite Log Splitter won't split logs, several factors could be the cause. First, ensure the log is correctly positioned according to the Operation section guidelines. If the log's size or hardness exceeds the machine’s capacity, reduce the log size. Check if the wedge cutting edge is blunt and needs sharpening, referring to the Maintenance section for instructions. Also, inspect for oil leaks; if found, contact the dealer. Finally, verify that no unauthorized adjustments have been made to the Maximum Pressure Limiting Screw, as this could lower the maximum pressure rating, and in this case, contact the dealer.
