How to operate the vehicle’s audio system.
Basic Audio Operation
Connect audio devices and operate buttons and displays for the audio system.
Note: When the screen is viewed through polarized sunglasses, a rainbow
pattern may appear on the screen due to optical characteristics of the screen.

Overview

This document provides an overview of the audio and connectivity features in a vehicle, detailing how to operate the audio system, connect devices, and adjust sound settings.

Basic Audio Operation

The vehicle's audio system allows connection of various audio devices and offers intuitive controls through buttons and displays. A note advises that viewing the screen with polarized sunglasses may result in a rainbow pattern due to the screen's optical characteristics.

USB Port

The vehicle is equipped with USB ports for connecting devices and flash drives.

  • Models with Color Audio:

    • Function: The USB port (1.0A) is designed for playing audio files from a USB flash drive and connecting a cellular phone for charging.
    • Usage: Install the device's USB connector or a USB flash drive into the USB port.
  • Models with Display Audio:

    • Function: The USB port (1.5A) is used for charging devices, playing audio files, and connecting compatible phones for Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™.
    • In the console compartment (if equipped): An additional USB port (1.0A) is available for playing audio files from a USB flash drive and connecting a cellular phone for charging. To access it, move the removable beverage holder tray rearward.

Accessory Power Socket

  • Function: An accessory power socket is located in the front console panel.
  • Usage: It can be used when the vehicle is ON or in ACCESSORY Mode. Open the cover to use it.
  • Maintenance/Warning: A "NOTICE" advises against inserting an automotive-type cigarette lighter element, as this can overheat the power socket.

Adjusting the Sound

The audio system offers various sound adjustment options.

  • Models with Color Audio:

    • Usage: Press the sound button and rotate the selector knob to scroll through the following choices: Bass, Middle, Treble, Fader, Balance, and Speed-sensitive Volume Compensation.
  • Models with Display Audio:

    • Usage:
      1. Press the Sound button.
      2. Select Menu.
      3. Select Sound.
      4. Select a tab from the following choices:
  • BAS-MID-TRE: Adjusts Bass, Middle, and Treble.

  • FAD-BAL1/FAD-BAL-SUBW1: Adjusts Fader, Balance, and Subwoofer (if equipped).

  • SVC1/SVC-Neural1: Adjusts Speed Volume Compensation and DTS Neural Surround™ (if equipped).

Audio Remote Controls

The vehicle includes remote controls for audio functions.

  • Models with Color Audio and Display Audio:
    • Volume Buttons (+/-): Press to adjust the volume.
    • Up/Down Arrows: Press to cycle through the available audio modes.

Audio/Information Screen

  • Function: This screen displays the status of each mode and wallpaper. It also provides access to various setup options.
  • Switching the Display: Press the NAV, PHONE, INFO, and AUDIO buttons to navigate to the corresponding display.

Color Audio System

This section details the controls for the color audio system.

  • Buttons and Knobs:
    1. Day/Night Button

    4. Volume/Power Knob: Push to turn the audio system on and off; turn to adjust the volume.

  • Usage Notes:
    • Some items may be grayed out while driving to minimize distraction. These can be selected when the vehicle is stopped or by using voice commands.
    • Wearing gloves may hinder or prevent touchscreen response.

AM/FM Radio

Instructions for operating the AM/FM radio are provided.

  • Models with Color Audio:

    1. Volume/Power Knob: Push to turn the audio system on and off; turn to adjust the volume.
    2. Skip/Seek Buttons: Press to change tracks or files.
    3. Preset Buttons/Icon: Tune to the selected station.
  • Models with Display Audio:

    1. Volume/Power Knob: Push to turn the audio system on and off; turn to adjust the volume.
    2. Skip/Seek Buttons: Press to change tracks or files.
    3. Preset Buttons/Icon: Tune to the selected station.

Bluetooth® Audio

  • Function: Play audio from a compatible phone paired with Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®.

  • Compatibility: Visit handsfreelink.com to check phone compatibility. Canadian customers can call (855) 490-7351 for HandsFreeLink® inquiries.

  • Models with Color Audio:

    1. Bluetooth® Indicator: Appears when your phone is connected to HFL.
    2. Skip/Seek Buttons: Press to change tracks or files.
