Why Honda Tiller engine will not start?
    • J
      Juan RoblesJul 26, 2025
If your Honda Tiller engine won't start, there are several potential causes. First, ensure the ignition switch is in the ON position. If the engine is cold, make sure the choke lever is in the CLOSED position. Check the fuel level and add fuel if necessary, priming the bulb to fill the carburetor. Old or bad fuel can also be a culprit; drain the tank and refuel with fresh gasoline. Inspect the spark plug for faults, fouling, or incorrect gap, and gap or replace it as needed. For more complex issues like a restricted fuel filter, carburetor malfunction, or stuck valves, it's best to have an authorized Honda servicing dealer handle the repairs.

If the tines (or attachment) on your Honda Tiller won’t stop turning when the throttle is at the SLOW position, it could be due to a faulty throttle control or cable; check the throttle control parts, and adjust or replace the cable if necessary. Another potential cause is an idle speed that is too high. Clutch springs worn or clutch system faulty could also cause this problem.
