APPLICATION

The Y8150 Fresh Air Ventilation System, W8150 Fresh Air

Ventilation Control provide fresh air to a home. The control

operates a fresh air intake damper and, when necessary,

activates the main HVAC blower to efficiently meet

ASHRAE ventilation rates.

FEATURES

• Designed to help meet local ventilation codes and

standards, including ASHRAE 62.2-2010 standard,

“Ventilation and Acceptable Indoor Air Quality in

Low-Rise Residential Buildings.”

• Microcontroller optimizes the air delivery schedule to

make efficient use of normal HVAC run times.

• Easy-to-use input dials allow customized ventilation

for each installation.

• Test mode that includes immediate feedback to

installer to confirm that air delivery requirements of

selected ventilation standard are being met.

• Economical supply-only ventilation; works with

forced air system.

• Can be used with other equipment, such as an

HRV/ERV, for balanced ventilation.

Ensure there are no kinks in the ductwork and that all manual dampers are fully open. Verify that the stops on the EARD6TZ damper allow it to open fully. Consider increasing the duct size or adding a booster fan to the fresh air duct. After making any changes to the ductwork, repeat the Measuring Air- flow section.

  The HVAC fan might be running constantly on your Honeywell Home Fan because the device is set to override. To resolve this, move the switch to the On position to enable automatic operation. Alternatively, a remote switch might be activated; adjust it to your desired setting. The thermostat fan switch could also be in the On position, which is normal operation. The HVAC system might be running to meet heating or cooling needs, which is also normal. A 100% ventilation limit setting can cause continuous operation, so set it to 60%. If the control can’t meet ventilation needs, increase airflow and adjust settings. Low ventilation airflow can also be the cause.

  If you see a flashing red light during normal operation of your Honeywell Home Fan, it indicates low voltage. Check that the voltage from the transformer is at least 20 Vac. If the voltage is adequate, the W8150 Control may need replacement. If the voltage is insufficient, disconnect the damper and remote switch connections and recheck. If the voltage still doesn't reach 20 Vac, replace the transformer.

  If the damper doesn't open during checkout or close on your Honeywell Home Fan, it could be due to incorrect wiring. Check the wiring connections against the appropriate wiring diagram. Also, verify that 24 Vac is applied to the actuator. A damper actuator motor failure or mechanical failure could also be the cause. Manually open the damper to check for free movement; it should return to the closed position without power. If it moves freely but doesn't operate with 24 volts applied, replace the damper actuator. If the damper doesn't move freely, replace the fresh air damper.

If the device is set to a 60% ventilation on-time limit, set the ventilation control to 100% maximum on time, allowing the HVAC fan to run up to 100% of the time, or consider increasing airflow. If the device is set to 100%, there isn't enough airflow through the fresh air duct. Ventilation will continue according to the settings, but the chosen standard might not be met.
