This document describes the Honeywell Blufon 52" Ceiling Fan, models #10282 and #10283. It is a ceiling fan designed for damp locations, as indicated by the ETL US LISTED "RATED FOR DAMP LOCATIONS" certification.
Function Description:
The Honeywell Blufon 52" Ceiling Fan is designed to provide airflow and illumination in indoor spaces, including damp locations. It offers three mounting options: standard, angle, and closemount, to accommodate various ceiling heights and types. The fan features a reversible switch to optimize airflow for seasonal performance, providing a wind chill effect in warmer weather and helping to circulate warm air in cooler weather. It also includes a light kit for illumination.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Fan Weight: 15.97 lbs. (7.24 kg).
- Blade Span: 52 inches.
- Minimum Clearance (Blades to Floor): 7 ft. (2.14 m).
- Minimum Clearance (Blades to Obstruction): 30 in. (76 cm).
- Mounting Options: Standard, Angle, Closemount.
- Angle Mount Ceiling Angle Limit: Not steeper than 16°.
- Light Kit Wattage Limiter: 190W (if the total wattage of the lights exceeds 190W, the lights will not work).
- Electrical Requirements: Must be connected to a supply circuit protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) if used in a damp location.
- Outlet Box Support: Must be securely attached to the building structure and capable of supporting at least 35 lbs. (15.88 kg) of moving weight. The outlet box must be marked "ACCEPTABLE FOR FAN SUPPORT."
Usage Features:
- Three Mounting Options:
- Standard Mounting (Fig. 1): Best suited for ceilings 8 ft. or higher. A longer downrod (sold separately) may be used for taller ceilings.
- Angle Mounting (Fig. 2): Best suited for angled or vaulted ceilings, provided the ceiling angle is not steeper than 16°. A longer downrod may be necessary for proper blade clearance.
- Closemount (Fig. 3): More suitable for ceilings lower than 8 ft. (2.44 m) high. In this configuration, the downrod, canopy cover, and yoke cover are not used.
- Reversible Switch (Fig. 29): Located on the side of the fan motor housing, this switch allows users to change the direction of blade rotation.
- Warmer Weather (Fig. 30): Pushing the switch down results in downward airflow, creating a wind chill effect.
- Cooler Weather (Fig. 31): Pushing the switch up and setting the fan speed to low results in upward airflow, which helps move stagnant, hot air off the ceiling area, potentially yielding energy savings.
- Important Note: The fan must be stopped before moving the reverse switch. The switch must be set completely up or down for the fan to operate correctly; a middle position will prevent operation.
- Light Kit: Includes two bulbs and a glass bowl. The light kit can be controlled separately if a second hot power wire is available from the outlet box (Fig. 18).
- Pull Chains: Separate pull chains for fan speed and light control are fed through grommets on each side of the light kit (Fig. 27, Fig. 28). When facing the reverse switch, the light pull chain is on the left and the fan pull chain is on the right.
Maintenance Features:
- Regular Inspection: At least twice a year, lower the canopy to check the downrod assembly and tighten all screws on the fan.
- Cleaning:
- Clean the motor housing with only a soft brush or lint-free cloth to avoid scratching the finish.
- Clean the blades with a lint-free cloth.
- Important: Always shut off the main power supply before performing any maintenance tasks. Do not use water or a damp cloth to clean the ceiling fan.
- Bulb Replacement: When replacing bulbs, allow the bulb and light kit to cool before touching.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for common issues:
- Fan does not move: Check power, fuse, and all electrical connections.
- Fan is noisy: Tighten screws on blade arms and motor; check for cracked blades.
- Excessive wobbling: Tighten screws on blade arms and motor; switch blades or use a balancing kit; verify mounting bracket security and flushness against the outlet box.
- Lights not working (if applicable): Re-install or replace bulbs; check single-pin connectors in the light kit fitter; check all connections at the ceiling outlet box; ensure total wattage does not exceed the 190W limiter.
- Limited Lifetime Warranty: The fan motor is warranted to be free from defects in workmanship and material for the life of the product.
- One-Year Warranty: All other ceiling fan parts (excluding the motor and parts made in whole or in part with glass) are warranted for one year from the date of purchase.
- Exclusions: Ordinary wear and tear, accident, misuse, improper installation, and service by a non-licensed electrician are not covered. Purchasers are responsible for removal and reinstallation costs.
- Warranty Service: To obtain service, call the customer service department at 1-877-361-3883 (Monday - Thursday, 8 am - 6 pm EST; Friday, 8 am - 5 pm EST) and provide the model number and proof of purchase.
