Overview

This document provides important instructions and an operating manual for two models of LP Gas Grills: SKU BGGIN0070 and SKU BGGIN0071.

Function Description:

These devices are outdoor LP (liquid propane) gas grills designed for cooking. They feature multiple main burners and a side burner, allowing for versatile cooking options. The grills are intended for outdoor use only and should not be operated in enclosed areas such as buildings, garages, or under overhangs. They are equipped with a lid, cooking grills, a warming rack, and flame tamers to facilitate grilling. A grease box is included for easy cleanup of drippings. The grills are designed to be portable with casters, two of which are locking.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Models: SKU BGGIN0070 (3-Burner LP Gas Grill With Side Burner) and SKU BGGIN0071 (4-Burner LP Gas Grill With Side Burner).
  • BTU Ratings:
    • BGGIN0070: Main Burner Total rated BTU: 24,000 BTU/Hr; Side Burner rated BTU: 10,000 BTU/Hr.
    • BGGIN0071: Main Burner Total rated BTU: 32,000 BTU/Hr; Side Burner rated BTU: 10,000 BTU/Hr.
  • LP Gas Cylinder Requirements: Must be constructed and marked in accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) or National Standard of Canada, CAN/CSA-B339 specifications. Must be provided with a listed overfilling prevention device and a compatible cylinder connection device. Only 20-pound cylinders (height: 18.11 inches, tank diameter: 9.84 inches, foot diameter: 8.03 inches) with a collar to protect the valve are to be used.
  • Ignition System: Electronic ignition requiring one "AA" alkaline battery (included).
  • Clearance: Minimum clearance from sides and back of unit to combustible construction is 36 inches (915.0mm).
  • Fuel Type: Propane gas only.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: Requires two people for safe assembly due to the unit's weight. Estimated assembly time is 50 minutes. Tools required (not included) are a Phillips screwdriver, spray bottle, pliers, and an adjustable wrench.
  • LP Tank Connection: The LP gas cylinder is placed in a nesting hole in the cart bottom shelf and secured with a tank screw. The hose/regulator coupling connects to the threaded valve of the cylinder and is hand-tightened clockwise.
  • Leak Testing: Mandatory before first use and after any connections are made. A 50/50 liquid dish soap and water solution is sprayed on connections; bubbles indicate a leak. All control knobs must be in the OFF position during testing.
  • Lighting the Grill:
    1. Ensure control knobs are OFF.
    2. Open the tank valve fully (counterclockwise).
    3. Open the lid.
    4. Push the igniter down for 3-4 seconds while turning the right side control knob to the HIGH position.
    5. If ignition doesn't occur within 5 seconds, turn the control knob to OFF, wait 5 minutes, and repeat. Match lighting instructions are also provided as an alternative.
  • Match Lighting: Involves inserting a lit match into the match holder on the right door assembly, then placing the lit match near the burner ports through the grill grates and heat tents, while pressing and rotating the control knob.
  • Shutdown: Turn all control knobs clockwise to the OFF position, close the tank valve fully (clockwise), and close the lid.
  • First Use Preparation: Before cooking, operate the grill for approximately 15 minutes with the lid closed and control knob in the highest position to burn off manufacturing residues and odors.
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable liquids near the grill.
    • Do not store a disconnected LP cylinder near the appliance.
    • For outdoor use only; never use in a building, garage, or under overhangs.
    • Do not leave a lit grill unattended; keep children and pets away.
    • Always open the grill lid slowly to avoid steam burns.
    • Do not move the grill when lit or hot.
    • Do not use in an explosive atmosphere.
    • Never use charcoal or lighter fluid.
    • Do not fill the LP cylinder beyond 80 percent full.
    • Do not store a spare LP-gas cylinder under or near the appliance.
    • If gas odor continues after shutting off gas and extinguishing flames, keep away and call the fire department.
    • If flame extinguishes during operation, immediately turn off the cylinder valve and then the control knob.
    • Do not lean over the grill when lighting.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cooking Grates: "Burn-off" after each use (approx. 15 minutes with lid closed, burners on high) then clean with a wire brush. Porcelain grates should be handled with care to avoid chipping.
  • General Cleaning: Ensure the grill is cool and the gas supply is turned off at the LP-Gas Cylinder before cleaning. Use mild liquid dish soap, warm water, and a nylon cleaning pad or wire brush. Avoid cleaners with acid, mineral spirits, or abrasive substances.
  • Outside Surfaces: Clean with mild dish soap and warm water, then rinse.
  • Inside Bottom Pan: Clean regularly with a brush, scraper, or cleaning pad to avoid flare-ups. Wash with mild dish soap and warm water. Avoid splashing water into venturi tubes.
  • Heat Tents: Clean residue with a wire brush and wash with mild dish soap and warm water, then rinse.
  • Grease Cup: Empty and clean regularly with mild dish soap and warm water.
  • Flame Check: For maximum fuel efficiency, the flame should be blue-yellow and 1-2 inches high. View through holes in the firebox.
  • Burner Assembly Cleaning:
    1. Ensure all control knobs are OFF, gas supply valve is closed, and the gas hose is disconnected.
    2. Remove the igniter cap and "AA" battery.
    3. Remove the warming rack, cooking grates, heat tents, burner clips, ignition chain, and main burner.
    4. Remove hinge pins and slide main burners out of the firebox.
    5. Detach ignition wires from electrodes.
    6. Clear burner ports of clogs (e.g., with a pin or paper clip).
    7. Inspect burners for damage and replace if necessary.
    8. Ensure burner ends and primary air screens are clear of insect nests, dirt, or debris.
  • Burner Re-installation: Ensure gas valve orifices are correctly positioned inside the burner inlet (venturi). Reattach burners with hinge pins and ignition wires to electrodes.
  • Annual Inspection: Recommended to have the appliance inspected and serviced annually by a qualified service person.
  • Ventilation: Regularly check that the outdoor cooking appliance area is clear of combustible materials and that combustion and ventilation air flow are not obstructed. Ensure grill cabinet ventilation openings are clear of debris.
  • Insect Nests: Regularly check and clean burner/venturi tubes for insects and nests, as a clogged tube can lead to a fire beneath the grill.
