SRX/SRX2 Quick Start Guide
Setting up the device in VoiceConsole
1. Create a device profile for Talkman devices enabling Bluetooth, the SRX/SRX2 headset, and automatic
pairing by setting the following parameters:
Bluetooth_IsEnabled=true
Bluetooth_IsDiscoverable=true
SrxHeadsetEnable=1
SrxAutoPairEnable=1
For TouchConnect pairing of a Talkman A700 device and an SRX2 headset, turn on only two of these
parameters: set Bluetooth_IsEnabled to “true” and SrxHeadsetEnable to 1.
2. Load the device profile onto the Talkman device(s) that will be used with the headsets.
See the VoiceConsole Help for details on setting parameters and creating and loading device profiles.
Pairing an A700 device and an SRX2 headset with TouchConnect
Turn on the SRX2 headset.
If you are sharing
headsets at your site:
You must first associate the operator ID to the device by reading the headband:
1. Touch the SRX2 T-bar symbol to center of the raised oval on the side
of the device with the symbol, until the device state (ring) indicator
blinks green. VoiceConsole can now recognize the operator.
2. Within 30 seconds, touch the side of the A700 device that has the
symbol to the oval area of the SRX2's keypad section, aligning the ovals
on each and holding them together steadily, until the device state (ring)
indicator blinks green.
If you are not sharing
headsets at your site:
1. You only need to pair the device to the SRX2 electronics module:
2. Touch the side of the A700 device that has the symbol and the oval
area of the SRX2's keypad section together, aligning the ovals on each
and holding them together steadily, until the device state (ring) indicator
blinks green.
Note: If the device state indicator blinks red, the device and SRX2 did not pair. Attempt to pair them again.
When the device starts the task, VoiceConsole recognizes the pairing.

Overview

The Honeywell SRX/SRX2 Quick Start Guide provides instructions for setting up and enabling Vocollect SRX and SRX2 Wireless Headsets for use with Talkman devices, as well as connecting and using a listening kit. This guide focuses on the integration of these wireless headsets with Talkman devices, specifically excluding pairing with handheld devices.

Function Description:

The SRX/SRX2 Wireless Headsets are designed to provide wireless audio communication for operators using Talkman devices in various work environments. They facilitate hands-free operation, enhancing productivity and safety. The headsets connect to Talkman devices via Bluetooth, enabling voice-directed workflows. The system supports both automatic and manual pairing methods, offering flexibility depending on the operational setup. A key feature is the ability to integrate with VoiceConsole, a management tool that allows for the creation and loading of device profiles, enabling centralized control over headset settings and functionalities. The TouchConnect feature simplifies the pairing process for A700 Talkman devices and SRX2 headsets, especially in environments where headsets are shared among operators. Additionally, the system supports the use of a listening kit, which allows supervisors or trainers to monitor audio output or operator-device dialogue for training or demonstration purposes.

Important Technical Specifications:

While specific technical specifications like frequency ranges or battery life are not explicitly detailed in this quick start guide, the document highlights several critical parameters and functionalities:

  • Bluetooth Connectivity: The headsets utilize Bluetooth for wireless communication with Talkman devices. Key Bluetooth parameters configurable via VoiceConsole include Bluetooth_IsEnabled=true and Bluetooth_IsDiscoverable=true.
  • Headset Enablement: The SrxHeadsetEnable=1 parameter is crucial for activating the SRX/SRX2 headset functionality on the Talkman device.
  • Automatic Pairing: The SrxAutoPairEnable=1 parameter, when set to true, enables automatic pairing of headsets with Talkman devices after the initial manual pairing. This streamlines the process for subsequent uses.
  • TouchConnect Compatibility: Specifically for Talkman A700 devices and SRX2 headsets, TouchConnect simplifies pairing. This method requires only Bluetooth_IsEnabled to be true and SrxHeadsetEnable to be "1."
  • Device State Indicators: The headsets and Talkman devices use LED indicators (e.g., green, blue, red) to communicate their status, such as sleep mode, pairing mode, or successful pairing. Blinking green often indicates sleep mode or successful association, while blinking blue or steady flashing indicates pairing in progress or successful pairing. A red blink indicates pairing failure.
  • Audio Monitoring: The SrxSupervisorAudioEnable parameter controls the listening kit functionality. Setting it to "1" enables listening to both device and operator dialogue, while "2" allows listening to only device output. The default setting is "0" (off) for optimal performance when a listening kit is not in use.

Usage Features:

  • VoiceConsole Integration: Operators can manage device profiles through VoiceConsole, setting parameters like Bluetooth enablement, headset enablement, and auto-pairing. This allows for customized configurations tailored to specific operational needs.
  • TouchConnect Pairing: For SRX2 headsets and A700 Talkman devices, TouchConnect offers a quick and intuitive pairing method. This involves physically touching specific areas of the headset and device, aligning oval symbols, until the device state indicator blinks green. This is particularly useful in shared headset environments where operators associate their ID to a device by reading the headband first.
  • Manual Pairing: For initial setup or when auto-pairing is disabled, manual pairing is required. This involves a sequence of button presses on both the headset (Plus and Minus buttons) and the Talkman device, followed by holding them in close proximity. LED indicators guide the user through the process, confirming entry into pairing mode and successful pairing.
  • Operator ID Association: In shared headset scenarios, operators must first associate their ID with the device by reading the headband before proceeding with TouchConnect pairing. This ensures proper tracking and assignment of tasks.
  • Confirmation of Pairing: After pairing, operators verify the connection by listening to a serial number read aloud by the device and confirming it by pressing the Play/Pause button. This step ensures that the correct headset is paired with the correct Talkman device.
  • Starting Workflows: Once pairing is confirmed, pressing the Play/Pause button initiates the workflow, allowing the operator to begin their tasks.
  • Listening Kit Support: The ability to connect a listening kit provides a valuable tool for training new operators, monitoring performance, or demonstrating workflows without interfering with the primary operation. This feature can be configured to monitor different levels of audio interaction.

Maintenance Features:

The guide implicitly suggests several maintenance-related practices, primarily through the setup and pairing instructions:

  • Device Profile Management: Regular review and update of device profiles in VoiceConsole ensure that headsets and Talkman devices operate with optimal and current settings. This includes verifying parameters like SrxHeadsetEnable and SrxAutoPairEnable.
  • Troubleshooting Pairing Issues: The guide provides clear indicators for troubleshooting, such as the device state indicator blinking red to signify a pairing failure. This allows operators or support staff to quickly identify and re-attempt pairing.
  • Headset Status Monitoring: The use of LED indicators on both the headset and Talkman device allows for quick visual checks of their operational status, including sleep mode, pairing mode, and successful connection. This helps in diagnosing connectivity issues.
  • Ensuring Proper Conditions for Pairing: The instructions emphasize specific conditions for successful pairing, such as ensuring the Talkman device is not in a charger, not connected to a wired headset, and is in sleep mode. Adhering to these conditions helps prevent pairing failures and ensures the longevity of the devices.
  • Firmware and Software Updates (Implied): While not explicitly stated as a maintenance feature, the mention of "Vocollect Hardware Documentation and the device-specific release notes" implies that keeping device firmware and VoiceConsole software up-to-date is crucial for optimal performance and compatibility, addressing any potential bugs or introducing new features.
  • Re-entering Pairing Mode: The guide explicitly states how to re-enter pairing mode if an initial attempt fails (e.g., pressing Plus and Minus buttons on the Talkman device again), which is a practical maintenance step for resolving connectivity problems.
