Function Description

The Hoover tumble dryer is designed for domestic use to dry household textiles and garments. It utilizes various drying cycles and features to ensure efficient and safe drying. The appliance is equipped with One Touch technology, allowing interaction with smartphones via the Hoover Wizard App for enhanced control and functionality.

Usage Features

General Operation:

  1. Load the drum with laundry, ensuring garments do not hinder door closure.
  2. Close the door until it clicks shut.
  3. Turn the Programme Selector dial to choose the desired drying programme.
  4. Press the START/PAUSE button to begin the cycle.
  5. If the door is opened mid-programme, press START/PAUSE again to resume drying after closing the door.
  6. The machine enters a cool-down phase near completion, tumbling clothes in cool air.
  7. After the cycle, the drum rotates intermittently to minimize creasing until switched OFF or the door is opened.
  8. Always turn the programme selector to OFF at the end of a drying cycle before selecting a new one.

Programmes:

The tumble dryer offers a variety of programmes tailored for different fabrics and needs:

  • SMALL Load: For extremely small loads.
  • XXL Load: For large linens (curtains, sheets, tablecloths), minimizing tangles and folds.
  • Cotton (Hang Dry): Most energy-efficient, suitable for cottons and linens.
  • Whites: For cottons, sponges, and towels.
  • Mix & Dry: For mixed fabrics (cotton, linen, synthetics).
  • Darks & Coloured: Delicate cycle for dark and coloured cotton or synthetics.
  • Shirts: Minimizes tangles and folds; recommended to remove linens immediately after drying.
  • Synthetics: For synthetic fabrics requiring specific treatment.
  • Jeans: For uniform drying of jeans or denim; recommended to flip garments before drying.
  • Rapid 45 Min.: For quick drying of up to 1 kg load; recommended to spin at high speed first.
  • Wool: For machine washable wool products (up to 1 kg, around 3 jumpers); recommended to reverse clothes before drying. Note: Felting of wool is irreversible; dry only with "ok tumble" symbol. Not for acrylics. This cycle is Woolmark Company approved (M1524).
  • Antiallergy: Reduces allergens like dust mites, pet hair, pollens, and detergent residuals.
  • Pre Iron: A 12-minute warm cycle to relax folds and creases.
  • Anti Odours: A 20-minute cycle to remove smells and smooth creases.
  • One Touch: Customizable setting to transfer commands from the Hoover Wizard App. Default is "Cotton."

Selectable Options:

  • Time Selection: To set a timed drying duration (e.g., 220', 120', 90', 60', 20'). Can convert automatic cycles to timed within 3 minutes of starting.
  • Drying Selection: To set desired dryness level (editable up to 3 minutes after cycle start):
    • Ready to Iron: Leaves garments slightly wet for easier ironing.
    • Dry Hanger: Garments ready to be hung.
    • Dry Wardrobe: Laundry ready for direct storage.
    • Extra-dry: Completely dry garments, ideal for full loads.
  • Delay Start: Delays cycle start by 3, 6, or 9 hours.

Indicator Lights:

  • START/PAUSE: Lights up when pressed, flashes when paused.
  • TIME SELECTION: Illuminates to show selected duration.
  • DRYING SELECTION: Displays selected dryness level.
  • DELAY START TIME / DRYING STAGE: Shows delay hours or drying progress.
  • WATER CONTAINER: Lights up when the condensate water tank needs emptying.
  • FILTER CLEANING: Lights up when filters (door and lower) need cleaning.
  • DRYING CYCLE: Lights up when the drying cycle is running.
  • COOLING: Lights up during the cooling phase.
  • END CYCLE: Lights up when the cycle is done.

One Touch Technology:

  • Requires Android smartphone with NFC or iOS device (contents only).
  • Download the Hoover Wizard App.
  • First-time registration: Activate NFC on your smartphone, turn the dryer knob to One Touch, open the App, create a profile, and register the appliance by placing the smartphone's NFC antenna on the One Touch logo on the dashboard.
  • Regular usage: Turn knob to One Touch, ensure phone is unlocked and NFC is active, load laundry, close door, select function in App, and keep phone on the One Touch logo when requested.
  • Thick cases or metallic stickers may interfere with NFC transmission.

Laundry Preparation:

  • Check care labels for suitability for tumble drying.
  • Close all fastenings and empty pockets.
  • Turn articles inside out.
  • Place clothes loosely in the drum to prevent tangling.
  • Spin dry or thoroughly wring clothes before drying.
  • Do not put dripping wet clothes into the dryer.
  • Sort laundry by care symbols, amount/thickness, and fabric type (cottons/linen, synthetics).
  • Do not overload the drum.

Items NOT to Tumble Dry:

  • Silk, nylon stockings, delicate embroidery, fabrics with metallic decorations, garments with PVC or leather trimmings.
  • Items treated with dry cleaning fluid or rubber clothes (fire/explosion hazard).
  • Foam rubber materials (latex foam), shower caps, waterproof textiles, rubber-backed articles, clothes or pillows with foam rubber pads (spontaneous combustion hazard).
  • Glass fibre curtains (skin irritation hazard).
  • Items soiled with cooking oil, acetone, alcohol, petrol, kerosene, spot removers, turpentine, waxes, wax removers should be washed in hot water with extra detergent before drying.
  • Remove all objects from pockets (lighters, matches). Never use flammable liquids near the machine.

Installation:

  • Ensure the appliance is level by adjusting its feet.
  • Do not install near curtains.
  • Do not install behind a lockable door, sliding door, or a door with a hinge on the opposite side that restricts full opening of the dryer door.
  • Adequate ventilation is crucial to prevent gases from other fuel-burning appliances from being drawn into the room.
  • Install the rear of the appliance close to a wall or vertical surface.
  • Maintain a gap of at least 12 mm between the machine and obstructions.
  • Keep air inlet and outlet clear of obstruction; ensure carpets/rugs do not obstruct ventilation openings.
  • Do not use adapters, multiple connectors, or extensions.
  • The plug should be accessible for disconnection.
  • Do not plug in or switch on until installation is complete.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by qualified persons.
  • The appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device (timer) or connected to a circuit regularly switched on/off by a utility.
  • Electrical system must be earthed and comply with applicable law.
  • If stacking on a washing machine, use a suitable stacking kit.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning the Dryer:

  • Filter: Clean the fluff filter before every cycle. If cleaned under water, remember to dry it. The filter cleaning indicator light will illuminate when cleaning is requested.
  • Water Container: Empty after every drying cycle. The water container indicator light will illuminate when emptying is needed.
  • Condenser: Clean regularly.
    1. Remove the kickplate.
    2. Turn locking levers anti-clockwise and pull out the condenser.
    3. Gently remove dust/fluff with a cloth, then wash under running tap, turning to allow water flow between plates.
    4. Check gasket position and refit if misaligned.
    5. Refit condenser, ensuring correct orientation (indicated by arrow) and firm placement.
    6. Lock levers by turning clockwise.
    7. Refit kickplate.
  • Drum and Door: Wipe the inside of the drum and leave the door open after each use for air circulation. Wipe the outside of the machine and door with a soft cloth.
  • Inner Door and Gasket: Clean with a damp cloth after every drying cycle to prevent sticking or fluff buildup.
  • Do NOT use abrasive pads or cleaning agents.
  • Always remove the plug before cleaning.

Safety Precautions:

  • Do not use if the machine appears faulty.
  • Do not use if industrial chemicals have been used for cleaning.
  • The final part of the cycle is cool down to prevent item damage.
  • Never stop a tumble dryer before the end of the drying cycle unless items are quickly removed and spread out to dissipate heat.
  • Do not use if the fluff filter is not in position or is damaged; fluff could ignite.
  • Prevent lint and fluff from collecting on the floor around the machine.
  • The hot surface symbol (SSS) indicates temperature rise during operation may exceed 60°C.
  • The drum and door may be very hot during use. Allow cool down period before removing laundry.
  • Misuse of a tumble dryer may create a fire hazard.
  • Children aged 8 and above, and persons with reduced capabilities, can use the appliance with supervision and instruction. Children under 3 should be kept away unless continuously supervised. Children should not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be done by children without supervision.
  • Do not touch the appliance with damp or wet hands/feet.
  • Do not lean on the door when loading or use it to lift/move the machine.
  • For electrical data, refer to the rating label on the front of the dryer cabinet (with the door open).
  • When disposing of an old dryer, disconnect the plug, cut the power cable, and destroy it. Break door hinges or lock to prevent children from getting trapped.

Troubleshooting:

  • Drying time too long/clothes not dry enough: Check if correct drying time/programme selected, clothes were thoroughly wrung, filter needs cleaning, or dryer is overloaded.
  • Dryer noisy: Switch off and contact Service.
  • Filter cleaning indicator light on: Check if filter needs cleaning.
  • Water container indicator light on: Check if water container needs emptying.
  • Dryer not operating: Check electricity supply, plug connection, power failure, blown fuse, door fully closed, and if the dryer is switched on at both mains and machine.
  • Time display changes during cycle: This is normal as the appliance adjusts time based on humidity.
