The Hope R4+ is a rechargeable Li-Ion LED lighting system designed for various outdoor activities, including cycling. It offers powerful illumination and a range of features for user convenience and safety.
The R4+ serves as a high-performance lighting solution, providing bright and reliable light for nighttime or low-light conditions. It features multiple power levels and a flash mode, allowing users to adjust the light output according to their needs and conserve battery life. The system includes a lamp unit, a rechargeable Li-Ion ES battery pack with a fuel gauge, and various mounting options for handlebars, helmets, or head harnesses.
Light Source: The R4+ is equipped with 4 x Cree XM-L2 LEDs, delivering a powerful light output. Light Output: It produces 1500 measured lumens and 2000 generated lumens, ensuring excellent visibility. Beam: The beam features 4 x Spot (+/-10°) with a FWHM (Full Width Half Maximum) of 21°, providing a focused and effective light spread. Mounting: The system offers versatile mounting options, including a QR bayonet style handlebar mount, helmet mount, or head harness, catering to different user preferences and activities. Battery: The R4+ utilizes a Li-Ion ES battery with a built-in fuel gauge. Two battery options are available: * 2 cell: Nominal capacity of 3200mAh (minimum 3100mAh). * 4 cell: Nominal capacity of 6400mAh (minimum 6200mAh). Charge Time: * 2 cell battery: Approximately 3.5 hours. * 4 cell battery: Approximately 7.5 hours. Weight: The lamp unit and a 4-cell battery together weigh 426g. Power Levels: The R4+ offers 6 power levels, organized into two sequences of three, including a flash mode, allowing for flexible light intensity control. Burn Time: The burn time ranges from 2 hours 30 minutes to 35 hours, depending on the selected power level and battery type.
Battery Fuel Gauge: The Li-Ion ES battery pack incorporates a 5-stage fuel gauge. Users can press and hold the 'TEST' button to activate the LED display, which visually indicates the remaining battery capacity. Power Level Control: The lamp operates with a quick press to turn on and cycle through modes, and a press and hold action to turn off at any time. There are two main sequences: * Trail Sequence: Mode 1 (550 Lumens), Mode 2 (1000 Lumens), Mode 3 (1500 Lumens). * Race Sequence: Mode 1 (60 Lumens), Mode 2 (300 Lumens), Mode 3 (Flash mode). Energy Preserve Feature: To prolong battery life, the R4+ includes an 'Energy Preserve' feature. Towards the end of the battery discharge cycle (e.g., after approximately 2 hours 30 minutes in Mode 3 with a 4-cell battery), the power will automatically drop from Mode 3 to Mode 2. The switch illumination will change from blue to green at this point. If a user attempts to re-select Mode 3 during this period, the lamp will immediately fade back to Mode 2 and block further selection of Mode 3 to maximize remaining battery life. Low Battery Warning: When the battery is nearing the end of its discharge cycle, the lamp will enter a low power mode, the switch will illuminate red, and the lamp will flash twice every 30 seconds to alert the user. In this mode, no other modes are selectable, and pressing the power button will only turn the lamp off or on. Mounting Options: The system comes with various components for mounting: * QR bayonet handlebar clamp (Item 2) with spacers for 31.8mm (Item 3) and 35.0mm (Item 4) handlebars. * Helmet mount (Item 5). * QR bayonet mount adapter (Item 6). * Head harness (Item 8). * An extension cable (Item 7) is also provided for flexible placement.
Battery Charging: * The battery pack is supplied partially charged for testing and must be fully charged before first use. * To charge, disconnect the battery pack from the light unit, plug the charger into the battery pack, then connect to the mains supply. * The charger's LED indicator will show red during charging and turn green when charging is complete. * If the battery pack is placed on charge after only a short period of use (e.g., with 75% or higher capacity), it may not immediately begin charging. This is due to software communication between the battery pack and charger, which looks for a battery voltage lower than 8V to initiate charging. In such cases, connect the battery pack to the lamp unit and run it for a short while to further discharge it before attempting to charge again. Storage and Transportation: * Always disconnect the lamp unit from the battery pack when not in use to prevent power drain and accidental activation, which could lead to overheating and damage. * Never carry the lighting system by the cable to avoid damaging electrical connections. * For long-term storage, fully charge the battery pack and store it in a cool, dry room within a temperature range of -20°C to 25°C (ideally a cellar or garage). * Periodically charge the battery pack (e.g., once every 3-4 weeks) to maintain voltage between 6.8V to 7.6V and prevent over-discharging, which can lead to loss of cell performance or damage. Disposal: When the equipment reaches the end of its life, components should be disposed of in accordance with local waste regulations. Lamps and batteries should be recycled where possible and not disposed of with regular waste. Warranty: All Hope Technology lighting systems are covered for two years from the original purchase date against manufacturer defects in material and workmanship. Proof of purchase is required, and the product must be returned to the original retailer for warranty claims. The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse or failure to comply with the recommendations in the manual.
