Do you have a question about the Hotpoint Ariston TQG 641/HAEE and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes the Hotpoint Ariston TQG 641 /HA(BK) EE and TQG 641 /HA(WH) EE gas hob models.

Function Description

The Hotpoint Ariston gas hob is designed for domestic use, specifically for cooking food. It features multiple gas burners of varying sizes and power outputs, allowing for versatile cooking options. Each burner is controlled by a dedicated knob, which also incorporates an ignition function for automatic lighting. A key safety feature is the safety device (thermocouple) that automatically cuts off the gas supply if the flame is accidentally extinguished.

Important Technical Specifications

The hob is a Class 3 built-in appliance.

Burner and Nozzle Specifications (Table 1):

Burner Type Diameter (mm) Thermal Power (kW) (p.c.s.*) Nominal Thermal Power (kW) (p.c.s.*) Reduced By-pass 1/100 (mm) Nozzle 1/100 (mm) (Liquid Gas) Flow* (g/h) (Liquid Gas) Nozzle 1/100 (mm) (Natural Gas) Flow* (l/h) (Natural Gas)
Fast (R) 100 3.10 0.80 39 86 225 (Propane), 221 (Butane) 116(Y) 295
Semi Fast (S) 75 1.75 0.45 28 64 127 (Propane), 125 (Butane) 96(Z) 167
Auxiliary (A) 55 1.05 0.45 28 50 76 (Propane), 75 (Butane) 79(6) 100

*p.c.s. = gross calorific value. *Flow values are at 15°C and 1013.25 mbar - dry gas. *Propane (G31) P.C.S. = 50.37 MJ/Kg. *Butane (G30) P.C.S. = 49.47 MJ/Kg. *Natural (G20) P.C.S. = 37.78 MJ/m³. *Natural (G2.350) P.C.S. = 27.20 MJ/m³.

Supply Pressures:

Gas Type Nominal (mbar) Minimum (mbar) Maximum (mbar)
Liquid Gas 30 20 35
Natural Gas 20 17 25

Electrical Specifications:

  • Voltage and Frequency: 220-240V~50/60Hz
  • Power (W): 0.6 W

The appliance is designed to operate with alternating current at the voltage and frequency indicated on the data plate. It is equipped with a three-pole power supply cable with a green and yellow earth wire.

Installation Dimensions:

  • Cut-out dimensions: 555 mm (width) x 475 mm (depth).
  • Hob thickness: The appliance can be secured to countertops between 20 mm and 40 mm thick using the provided hooks.
  • Clearances:
    • Adjacent furniture exceeding the hob's height should be at least 200 mm from the hob edge.
    • Cooker hoods should be installed at least 650 mm above the hob.
    • Wall cabinets adjacent to the hood should be at least 420 mm above the hob.
    • If installed under a wall cabinet, the hob must be at least 700 mm below it.

Ventilation Requirements:

  • The back panel of the cabinet must be removed for adequate ventilation.
  • The oven (if installed below) should rest on two wooden strips or a flat surface with an opening of at least 45 x 560 mm.
  • The room must have a permanent ventilation system, including an exhaust system for combustion gases (hood or electric fan) and an air intake system (minimum 2 m³/h per kW of installed power).
  • Air intake can be direct from outside (via a duct with at least 100 cm² cross-section) or indirect from adjacent rooms.

Usage Features

Gas Burners: Each burner can be set to Off (0), Maximum, or Minimum flame settings using its control knob.

Ignition: To light a burner, press down and turn the corresponding knob anti-clockwise to the maximum setting while holding a lit match or lighter near the burner. For models with integrated ignition, simply press the knob all the way in and turn it anti-clockwise to "High" until the burner lights. The knob must be held for 2-3 seconds to allow the safety device to heat up and keep the flame lit. If the flame extinguishes, turn off the knob and wait at least 1 minute before relighting.

Optimal Cookware Usage:

  • Use cookware with a diameter appropriate for each burner (see table) to prevent flames from extending beyond the cookware bottom.
  • Always use cookware with a flat base and a cover.
  • When contents boil, turn the knob to the minimum setting.

Cookware Diameter Recommendations:

Burner Type Ø Cookware Diameter (cm)
Rapid (R) 24-26
Semi Rapid (S) 16-20
Auxiliary (A) 10-14

Stability: Ensure pan supports are correctly fitted and pans are centered over the burner. Pan handles should align with a support bar and not protrude beyond the hob's front edge for maximum stability.

Gas Type Adaptation: The hob can be adapted to different gas types by replacing burner nozzles and adjusting the minimum flame setting. This procedure involves:

  1. Removing grids and burners.
  2. Unscrewing and replacing nozzles with those suitable for the new gas type (using a 7 mm socket spanner).
  3. Reassembling parts in reverse order.
  4. Replacing the old rating sticker with a new one indicating the new gas type.
  5. Adjusting the minimum flame by turning the tap to the low flame position, removing the knob, and adjusting the screw until the flame is small but steady. For liquid gas, the regulation screw must be fastened as tightly as possible.

Maintenance Features

Switching Off: Always disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply before any cleaning or maintenance.

Cleaning the Hob Surface:

  • Enamelled and glass parts should be cleaned with warm water and a neutral solution.
  • Stainless steel surfaces should be cleaned with warm water and neutral detergent, then dried with a soft cloth. Use specific cleaners for baked-on dirt on stainless steel.
  • Avoid abrasive or corrosive products, chlorine-based cleaners, pan scourers, steam cleaners, and flammable products.
  • Do not leave acidic or alkaline substances (vinegar, mustard, salt, sugar, lemon juice) on the hob.

Cleaning Hob Parts:

  • Grids, burner caps, and burners can be removed for cleaning.
  • Clean them by hand with warm water and non-abrasive detergent, ensuring burner openings are not clogged.
  • Rinse and dry, then refit correctly.
  • Ensure panstand areas align with the burner when replacing grids.
  • For models with electrical ignition plugs and safety devices, thoroughly clean the plug end with a damp cloth and remove baked-on food with a toothpick or needle. Do not use the electric ignition device if burners are not in their housing.

Gas Tap Maintenance: If taps become jammed or difficult to turn, they must be replaced by a qualified technician.

Troubleshooting (Self-Help): Before calling service, check for:

  • Gas and electrical supply interruptions.
  • Open gas valves.
  • Clogged gas holes on burners.
  • Correct assembly of movable burner parts.
  • Draughts near the appliance.
  • Knob fully pressed in and held long enough for safety device activation.
  • Correct minimum flame adjustment.
  • Flat cookware bottoms and correct positioning on the burner and grids.
